draft camp - day 2

I was sure that they were on the AFL sight last year. But the info stream this year is terribly slow. Another thing Adrian has stuffed up!

an update for day 2:
Nathan Vanburlo from WA ran 15.4 in the beep test (record is 15.6)
Nathan Vanburlo also broke the record for the agility test

Richard Tambling and Chris Egan both got the highest for the vertical leap test

Will Pierce apparently then broke Nathan Vanburlo's agility test to take out the record
Pierce also equalled the record for the 20m sprint.

Also the Carlton FC aren't doing any interviews at the moment for the Vic boys. They willl all get interviews back in melbourne.

Perth midfielder Nathan Van Berlo and South Australia's Danyle Pierce captured many a recruiter's eye on day two of the AFL draft camp yesterday, setting camp records in the agility run and sprint.

Pierce, a speedy onballer from Sturt, equalled the 2.79-second record for the 20-metre sprint set by Western Bulldog Steven Koops at the 1995 camp.

Richard Tambling, a likely top-five choice at next month's national draft, also equalled Koops' time, before Pierce ran even faster in his second sprint to make the record his own.

Van Berlo, who represented Western Australia at the under-18 national championships this year, set his record in the agility run, beating the 7.95-second mark set by Fremantle midfielder Byron Schammer two years ago.

The West Perth player also performed best at the gruelling beep test, reaching level 15.02, short of the shared 16.06 level set by Geelong midfielder David Spriggs in 1999 and Sydney's Jarrad McVeigh in 2002.

The camp ends today, with a skills session and a three-kilometre time trial.

apparently willits and patterson from the knights ran an alright beep test for big men. also been told by a few of the boys that half the camp were ********s full of themselves. especially Franklin!! walk around thinking he owned the joint and recruiters weren't very happy with him. Deledio also v stuck up!

Who told you that?

anyone go the worst results from the camp? eddie betts only ran 11 something. however as been injured so may be excused. anone else heard bad reults???

Eddie Betts ran the slowest beep test of 11.5 for the camp. He was sore from the grand final though.

Deledio and Franklin were apparently very arrogant along with Chris Egan.

Cant find all the results anywhere.

Willits ran 13.1 on the beep, a good effort by a 99kg bloke.

State Screening was held today, any news on that?

Marc Rovere and Ben Davies were equal 4th on the beep with 14.1, thats all ive heard.

Results- Standing verticle jump- chad gibson (norwood) 73cm
Running vertical jump right leg- danyle pearce(sturt) 96cm
Running vertical jump left leg- Chris egan (Murray) 94cm
beep test-Nathan van berlo(West perth) Level 15.02
20m sprint- danyle pearce 2.79sec
Agility run- 7.79sec danyle pearce
3km time trial nathan can berlo 10:35 secs
danyle pearce is going to be a super player and nathan van berlo did very well as well

I doubt that 14.1 came in 4th. There were at least 4 guys higher than that.

Out of the 10.30 group I think Rovere was equal 4th with 14.1. Two guys got 14.10, I think one of them was James Barton (oakleigh), and John Holmes (eastern) got 14.9.

Not sure about the 12.30 group

Seeing as Evan Johnson came in at 14.3 that putsRovere down to 5th doesnt it?

Benjamin Fraser from Gippsland Power was the best from the arvo heats with 14.5

Sam Dwyer from Geelong Falcons was next best with 14.1 or 14.2 I believe.

Fraser is bottom age -- only just being eligible for this years draft....and listed as 190cm in the TAC record. Worth a punt or better to see what he does next year in the TAC competition?

I think only a very small number ever get drafted from the state screenings, with more likely to be rookie listed. And you have to be top age to be rookie listed.

to answer your question go blueboyzz both sharp and bain didnt take place at draft camp along with tom murphy, ryan griffen, ryan kyne (the ryan's seem to have the injuries wars) and few others,
If you have a look at the list of talent on that injury list i would be taking Sharp, Bain, Murphy and Griffen!

Your not the only one that rates bain as one to watch, i have been on his bandwagon since the championships! if you remember back to a thread posted by (rip dyer) just before the championships that was saying he was the one to watch, and people replied laughing! well i did too, but how things have changed!

I think also people didnt rate thomas murphy to highly before the championships as well, just shows you what a good national campaign can do for you!

One last thing dont read to much into the draft camp results and who didnt take place ect, they clubs have good all the average scores for throughout the preseason and the draft camp probley sorts out the last 20% of the drafted players!
