Powell-Pepper's disposal is pretty iffy.

indeed, as ive said before, he reminds me of another clem smith. i think he's a half back flanker that will struggle to transition into the midfield and once the state comps are over, i think he will probably slide similar to clem

having said that he's doing pretty well so far in the colts

up to 22 disposals

From what I've read thus far from this forum & other articles, would be happy with Petrovski-Seton, Wil Brodie, Jonty Scharenberg or Dylan Clarke at this point in time

Haven't seen enough to make a call. I like Scharenberg junior more than most though.

In other news; gentlemen, I'm in love.

Dandenong has a lad with a November '98 birthdate (so he's a baby for the draft class), Tom Roberts, who already rocks the scales at 202cm 112kg.

I read somewhere that berg junior plays like a taller prestia, would you say the same?

That's a novel way of putting it... I haven't seen much of him live yet, but it sounds about right.

Maybe not as explosive as Prestia, but unreal by foot.

Who are your top 5 mids at this point? Excluding academy & f/s.

Not sure if this is where you read it crasha301 but these comparisons are interesting from Ben Waterworth (Fox Footy, using Champion Data's analysis to come up with a top 25).

This is a shortlist of mids and potential mids who are non-academy players and could possibly be taken in the first two rounds:

Draftee ~ comparison
Sam Petrevski-Seton ~ Stephen Hill
Will Brodie ~ David Armitage
Jonty Scharenberg ~ Dion Prestia
Sam Powell-Pepper ~ Brad Ebert
Brendan Parfitt ~ Jack Steven
Dylan Clarke ~ David Swallow
Andrew McGrath ~ Jack Macrae
Daniel Venables ~ Cameron Guthrie

.... and those who may potentially play midfield (or do so occasionally) ....

Ben Ainsworth ~ Jamie Elliot
Jarrod Berry ~ Corey Enright
Jy Simpkin ~ Shane Edwards
Jack Scrimshaw ~ Grant Birchall
Jordan Gallucci ~ Devon Smith

Waterworth does not mention two other mids who are perhaps worth considering in this range:
  • Noah Hura
  • Hugh McCluggage

Barrels is this berry guy the type of 190cm player who would be able to play mid time? if not I've heard good things about him and am intrigued now since he will be around our pick

Yep. Definitely could make the transition. Wait for the Champs.

186cm 82kg... (Good)
3 Joe-the-goose goals in a 90 point win... (Questionable)
St Kevins kid... (Flog)
Has the basketball background, makes things happen when he's around the ball or using it. Will be a naturally smarter person and better human than Brodie as well given his top rate education.

I was with you until the last bit. Then it became a garbled mess.

VFL 2016: Paddy whacks the Hawks in big day out for Sandringham
McCartin, the No.1 draft pick in 2014, was a livewire in the 147-point shellacking of VFL powerhouse Box Hill Hawks in the match at Trevor Barker Beach Oval, kicking seven goals – including three in the second term.

He towered high to take a huge contested grab in the second term and wheeled around to boot a goal from 50 metres out in one of his best highlights.

Certainly, his scoresheet could have looked even more damaging had he not been as unselfish to give off another two goals in the third term.
paddy says hi.

That's where you're wrong, the only flogs in the APS are Scotchies, not that smart either :) You may need to research your VCE results over the last 10 years.

Oh, before you say it, yes, I'm aware Billings and Sinclair are Scotch boys, but I like both because they handed Skevs a premiership by both missing set shots from 10 metres out directly in front. In fact Jack did it twice in the same game. Ah, that three point victory was so sweet.....but I digress......

Give me Jack Scrimshaw from this draft, apart from being smart and leaving Mentone Grammar, the kid can seriously play, and at 193 could be the next Fyfe.

Didn't you leave school 43 years ago?

This banter is invite only Brian; you're not on the list.
