List Mgmt. Draft Discussion 2016

They would surely have to change early academy picks to have a longer first year contract?

Wonder what the rate of go home factor will be of academy players drafted to other states
Think it's usually two years for draftees and one for rookies to begin with.

The go-home factor is a question worth asking at the interview stage. If you value two players equally and one's local you go the local obviously, but the rest is a case by case situation I'm guessing. That question could have influenced us in deciding to give Blake Acres such a long contract.

We actually encourage link posting. It's when people copy entire articles and paste them into threads (giving no reason to click on the link) that causes an issue.

I've loved reading KM's work over the last 3-4 years, really happy to see his hard work has paid off.
cheers a2r

I'll be keeping an eye on Josh Begley from the Eastern Ranges as my smokey for 2016.

Didn't make their initial squad, but kicked 13 in two weeks for Upper Fern Tree Gully in the Div 3 EFL. Plays as a lead-up forward but is excellent at ground level in short bursts. I'd put him at about 190cm but close enough to 95-100kg; Jake Stringer-like.

Has a lot of talent.

Also keep an eye on Tassie's Ben Mcguinness. 188cm, rangy type with a sweet left boot. Can play both tall and small.

Puts me in mind of Gilbo, but without the shanking. Brother of Brisbane's Josh, and a very similar type.

Overager this year? I thought he couldve been drafted last year...

Today GWS made us look so so slow. Kelly, Whitfield, Shiel, Scully, Wilson and Williams looked so damaging when they got on the spread. Apart from Steven and a fit freeman none of our smalls are quick. With Seb ross coming along nicely in the clearances it makes me think our most pressing need is outside class and pace. Sam ps ticks both boxes and would compliment our side nicely!

Played against this bloke, let me tell you from personal experience he is a jet!
Very much in the Blicavs mould for mine, played through the midfield against us and dominated.

Waaaay too short for Blicavs, and played deep forward today, but was Stringer-like in the air, with his strength and at ground level.

Mystified that he didn't make the initial Ranges squad.

Tallish mid watch: In the bests each game they've played in the TAC Cup so far
4 - Dylan Clarke 185cm, 85kg, Eastern Ranges, kicked 3 goals this weekend, 5 for the season
4 - Willem Drew 188cm; 78kg, North Ballarat, kicked 3 goals this season
3 - Joe Atley 186cm; 84kg, Bendigo Pioneers, kicked 2 goals this season

Must have got distracted watching Begley, Gallucci or McGuinness ;)
Gallucci didn't play actually; was a bit disappointed by that.

Is he Ryan Clarkes brother?

Is he Ryan Clarkes brother?
Yes and very similar I hear.

From Ben Waterworth:
The brother of recently drafted Kangaroo Ryan, Clarke showed off his potential during the TAC Cup finals series last season. He racked up 26 disposals and four tackles in a scintillating preliminary final performance that helped the Ranges win through to the grand final. The beauty of Clarke is that he has a big enough body to win inside ball — he won 10 or more contested possessions in six of his 13 TAC Cup games last year — but also elite running capacity to win the ball on the outside.
