Got bored and made it up. Thought I'd better put Barrels above Knightmare or he'd get stroppy.

Left out Paige Cardonna (Footy Prophet), Ben Waterworth (Fox) and grinding who deserve to be mentioned too. Emma Quayle hardly features till the day before.
Yeah Knightmare is a campaigner! Not sure why but **** him and his dog!

and Rahul...Ra-who?

only if we trade for some decent picks

That's the rub, eh? It depends how deep we cut, i.e. a top 22 player, a young player with potential, fringe players or list cloggers

If, and if the top 15 are as even as they say (no standout) then I would want to do a two for one e.g. pick 6-8 for Steele and a pick in the teens or pick 6 for Steele and Marchbank. If it was the latter for example then that would likely spell the end for Delaney and probably Lee as well as Curren and Shenton. Murdoch and Minchington may be saved for another year.

Not sure what that trade would mean for Fish and Dempster. That's a tricky one....

Has he posted lately? I've noticed him liking the odd post, but haven't seen any posts by him. It's a real shame as I really enjoyed his posts.
He's a Twitter/Instagram Mega Star now...no time for us little-folk on Bigfooty:(

Barrels do you have a mock draft?

Knightmare is a campaigner
Don't do mocks anymore mate, the bidding process makes it insanely complex to try and second guess everyone.

I'll have a bit of a go later in the year, but nothing like a full-blown one.

4 academy players before him, that has him going at pick 4 or 5 if GC have to use their first.

Went early-ish on Venables, but his descriptions of him, and of Gallucci, make for compelling choices ....
Knightmare has some comparisons of midfielders in his top 20 which are helpful too.

6. Hugh McCluggage (VIC) ~ Adam Treloar
7. Sam Petrevski-Seton (WA) ~ Shaun Burgoyne
9. Daniel Venables (VIC) ~ Christian Petracca
10. William Brodie (VIC) ~ Ryan Griffen
12. Williem Drew (VIC) ~ Jack Ziebell
15. Jordan Gallucci (VIC) ~ Hamish Hartlett
18. Jy Simpkin (VIC) ~ Zac Merrett
20. Ben Ainsworth (VIC) ~ Jamie Elliott

what's everyone's beef with KM?
Smoke and mirrors. He's welcome any time.

McCluggage/Treloar is absolutely wrong IMO.

What about venables=petracca?
The problem with that is it puts enormous pressure on the kid more than anything.

The issue for Venables is that that clearance mid/dangerous forward mix tends toward guns - Petracca, Dusty Martin, Robbie Gray, etc. - so there's always going to be that trouble.

Venables, Brodie, Mcluggage, Gallucci, Petrevski-Seton, Atley (Call Twomey thinks he may have something), Scharenberg, McGrath...

With lads like Battle, Anisworth, Berry and Rotham, along with other KPP's, small forwards and Rucks we are not after to come through, the chance of us picking up a fantastic pure mid are big this year. We just need to look at who defines themselves in the next month or two.

We may have pick 6 to 8 this year Ive got to think that quality will fall through to there. Parish, Hopper, Callum and Oliver were the best mids besides the quality we got in the Gresh, but this year the quality of large/fast midfield talent seems wider and more even.

What do people think of Taranto, sound quick, hard at it and skilled!

Welcome to the party Jack Roughsedge.

Despite missing the whole season so far with a knee injury, he was named skipper of the reigning Premiers (Oakleigh), and the 185cm 84kg teak-tough inside midfielder from Whitefriars hauled in a mighty 39 disposals over the weekend on 'debut'.

Kicking is an unfortunate negative, but one to keep an eye on.

A mate of mine (who'd know) likened Taranto to Ollie Wines. Said he wins heaps of contested ball between the arcs, and is excellent defensively, but isn't quick; not slow, just not quick.

Was averaging 26.6 disposals per game a few weeks ago.

Mate also reckons the 186cm 82 billing would be more like 188cm 85kg now.

Venables, Brodie and Gallucci are still my top choices for our first. Begley for the 3rd rounder. :D

Maaaaaybe. They bring different things to the table.

I hate comparisons with gun AFL players, because it breeds too much expectation and pressure on young kids, but for comparison's sake;

Dan Venables - Dusty Martin
186cm 81kg ---- 187cm 93kg

Probably doesn't have Martin's raw strength and power, but a lot of that's physical maturity. He's a contested monster, but more than able to go forward and genuinely impact the scoreboard, even when injured, and can almost play as a power forward.

Will Brodie - Dyson Heppell
189cm 82kg ---- 189cm 90kg

Not as good by foot as Heppell is, but similarly athletic despite being a contested inside type. Is faster than he looks, and working on the outside overlap part of his game. Just keeps working and working and wins awards because of it. Is a super mark for a 'small' and kicks goals.

Jordan Gallucci - Zach Merrett
183cm 75kg ---- 180cm 80kg

Is blisteringly quick and very very classy by foot. Accelerates away from the contest and delivers beautifully. Starting to pull big numbers and build a more inside game. Great decision maker.
