Re: Draft Discussion

that sounds alright. I was real high on shoenmakers, but the jason mccartny article on afl website says he's more of a 3rd tall ryan okeefe type instead of a chf type. that made me cool on schoenmakers a bit.

my preference for pick 8 is identical to yours:
vickery
hartlett
swift

in this order
And I'd say that would be pretty much what Richmond are thinking.

Re: Draft Discussion

hey Cotch what have you heard about us and Swift?

I knew we spent a lot of time with Hartlett at draft camp and Vickery has obvious ties with our club but this is the first I've heard of our interest in Swift( aside of the standard interview/ knee test)
.....

cotch, do you have inside connections with the club?? i certainly hope that's what richmond is thinking. i think it's quite certain at least 1 of the 3 of vickery/hartlett/swift will be there at 8. hence if that's the club's wish list, i'd be very happy. Be stoked to end up with any of the 3.

Re: Draft Discussion

I cant understand why people want another midfielder with pick 8.We have got more then enough and now with thomo from port and a strong chance cogs will be back why do we need another onballer??.With gourdis gone now our first pick has to be a gun forward like mckernan or johnston as we all know we a lacking in that position. And pick 26 has to be a ruckmen fullstop and then after that running players with the remaining picks. So pick 8 and 26 a two big kp players for me to suit our needs, and to put the cherry on the cake with the rest of our young side.:thumbsu:

because some mids are just to good to give up at pick 8 if they are there.

Re: Draft Discussion

For our first rounder, if it comes down to a choice between an A grade midfielder, and a B grade forward, you take the A grade midfielder everytime. Always take best available with 1st rounders, DundasBoy26.

Dont think so.
kruezer vs Cotchin
Watts vs Natanui

Re: Draft Discussion

Eh, I think you'll find Carlton rated Kruezer higher than Cotchin.

Watts vs Natanui? Watts is rated higher in almost all circles.
Errrr Wrong.
Both Carl and Melb went/will on the team needs than best overall.
Carlton,s head recruiter[cant think of his name atm] said last year after drafting Kruezer that if Natanui was avail they would have taken Natanui.
They were always going to take Kruezer.
Melb is in the same position this year with Watts. They need a key fwd big time.

Re: Draft Discussion

Melbourne rates Watts higher, sheesh. Carlton rated Kruezer higher. Maybe repeating myself again will help? Then again maybe you just like being wrong all the time?

Re: Draft Discussion

I dont see what Natanui has to do with the draft last year since he wasnt eligable. All its says that Carlton thought NicNat>Kruezer LAST YEAR. Nothing more.

Regardless, Natanui is not a number 1 draft pick this year and Watts will be the better footballer. Even Rich will be better than NicNat imho.

they would have taken Cotchin if they didn't get a certain mid in the same draft with the initials JC.
this gave them the luxuary of drafting on needs and not best available.

and Watts is not a need for Melbourne he is best available. they need everything a ruckman (NicNat) and a better midfielder (Rich) and because of this they'll draft the best available and that is Watts.

Re: Draft Discussion

No almost all teams rated Kruezer the best talent. Even Richmond would have taken Kruezer ahead of Cotchin. Carlton picked who they thought was the best player.

Re: Draft Discussion

Taking it a bit far arent we, elliot!? :D

stupid crap typos!! or was it Freudian?....no it was a typo...sorry

Really my understanding was that they could not split them and the Judd trade clinched it.

There you go once again.Off the mark again.
We were always going to take Cotchin even if we had pick 1.He trained with us earlier in the year.We knew exactly what we were getting.
As for most clubs rated Kruezer.Well blow me down with a feather.Clubs dont knock other clubs selections.Unless your Greg Miller

As elliot said, Melbourne need a lot of things so they're going to go the best available. Jack Watts.

Carlton needed a ruckman, the clear number 1 rated possible draftee in the country before the draft last year was a ruckman by the name of Matthew Kruezer.

Both were/are considered the best available player at the time of the draft. You cant look at it in hindsight.

I guess you can't help being wrong. I won't bother trying to correct your wrongness anymore, if you are too foolish to realise you're wrong.

Thanks for validating my point
