Re: Draft Discussion
What about Tom Lynch developed to play FF, in the same mold as Fevola?

With both Vickery and Trengove gone, two KPP's highly rated by me who fit our needs, I turned to the best available. The guy I had at 4 on my rankings was still here, and despite him being a midfielder, I feel you can never have enough, especially elite ones. I believe Hamish has the capacity to become an elite midfielder, and is a perfect fit at Richmond.
I'm a massive rap on Hamish, and love his poise, his pace, and most of all the quality of his disposal. I'd say that his footskills on either side of his body are some of the best in the draft. He not only kicks the ball nicely, but kicks it a long way, and can sneak forward and kick goals too. His positioning around the ground is excellent, and reads the play very well.
Hamish had a tough time coping with a tag throughout the Championships, and could have worked harder to break the tag at times. In saying that, he still performed reasonably well throughout the Championships, but it revealed that possibly a higher work rate/ethic is required. That, plus a few lapses of concentration in kicking are his main weaknesses, but I raet him very, very highly.
Hartlett oozes class, and a midfielder with top class disposal is a welcome addition to the Tigers.
A very, very interesting pick here for the Tigers.
After going with Hartlett in the first round, it is clear we're going big in the second, with Rucks and Key Forwards the focus.
Jordan Roughead is the the only Ruckman still available who I rate as worthy of being taken here, and Aaron Cornelius, Mitch Brown, Jordan Lisle and Tom Lynch are all players mentioned in line with his pick.
Cornelius still seems to me, to be a lead up third forward with great hands, but a lack of pace, and not a huge frame to beat a man one out.
Lynch could almost be considered a KP forward if he had two or three extra centimetres on him, but suffers from being a 'tweener'.
There is a lot of conjecture as to whether Lisle translates as a Key Back or Forward at AFL level. I think forward, so I'm steering clear.
Mitch Brown just doesn't tick enough boxes to be taken at 26 for mine, so instead of going big I'm going really big.
Richmond - Pick #26 - Jordan Roughead - Ruck/Key Forward - 199cm, 87kg - North Ballarat Rebels, Vic
Roughead is a mobile Ruckman with a good leap, and good agility. Is very good around the ground, and uses his athleticism to get his hands on the ball around the ground, and be dangerous in the forwardline.
Build is a little bit thin at the moment, but with a season or two in the gym will develop into an imposing athlete, one who will not be beaten easily in the ruck contests or in the air.
Is a little bit in-consistent at times, but in general Roughead is a very solid athlete and footballer. Is a good mark and a nice right foot kick for a big man, and reads the play well, tending to be in the right places around the ground.
Doesn't have express pace, but will be able to keep up with most Ruckmen in the AFL.
A very promising talent, Roughead will bolster Richmond's Ruck division.

TFLUA-Tiger, did u consider liam jones for pick 58?? i see that he was still not picked up yet. what's your view on him?? ( i guess he didnt' play in the carnival due to injury this year so footage is limited) but he's an AIS boy, big forward, great mark. 194+ and underaged. believe there is a highlight clip on bigpond.
i would certainly pick him up at 58 if still available. but i guess your pick walsh is the type i'm looking to get with that pick anyway.
just a suggestion anyhow
As a Tasmanian, I've seen a fair bit of Jones throughout the years, and he was considered.
Think Walsh ticks a few more boxes, but Jones was definitely thought about.
If he's there at the next pick I might just pounce.
What have you got his weight at?
He was an absolute stick, with a great set of hands, good athleticism, a nice leap and a tendency to take a 'specky' or two, but he's fairly light on, and a developmental option, much the same as Walsh, but for different reasons.

Surely if Port don't go for Vickery, and no-one else grabs him like you have predicted, we would be all over him like a rash?I've gathered a bit of information in recent days from somone 'in the know'. Let me say it will be a VERY interesting draft indeed. Basically this is how the situation currently stands in the top 8. The ones in bold are the mosty likely outcomes.
Melborne- Watts
WCE- Naitanui
Fremantle- Hill
Port- Hartlett or Vickery
Essendon- Rich or Yarran
Carlton- Hurley
Brisbane- Ziebell or Rich
Richmond- Rich, Vickery or Swift
Looking very unlikely Hartlett will fall to us![]()
Thats the thing. It was for Bigfooty. I can tell you now, this whole Hill to Fremantle saga is genuine.I think it will be very unlikely if Hill goes top 3. Here was a kid who 4 weeks ago was a priority pick for everybody on BF but since draft camp has shot up. I reckon Freo are just stuffing around. I'm sure the kid can play but overlooking Rich and Rich maybe sliding to us. Don't think so. Also Vickery falling to North. Come on. Vickery is the next Kosi. I would think that after Buddy clubs will be falling over themselves to get their hands on a quality tall.
You'd think so, but, Swift could be a very very special footballer.Surely if Port don't go for Vickery, and no-one else grabs him like you have predicted, we would be all over him like a rash?
Cormick, mustve mis-read. Dont worry, Hill wouldnt be on our radar, and I'm confident he'll be a Docker. I was saying you might be disappointed because I dont think we'll get a look at Ziebell.Oh yay, another highly rated stick figure with good pace...
Cos' we don't have enough of those...
If we choose Hill over any of (Watts, Rich, NicNat, Hurley, Rusty, Ziebs, Hartlett, Vickery)...which we obviously will have to to get him...I'll...I'll...stutter at Richmond.
Grr!

Ah that's okay then. I'm pretty resigned to the fact we won't get Ziebell.Cormick, mustve mis-read. Dont worry, Hill wouldnt be on our radar, and I'm confident he'll be a Docker. I was saying you might be disappointed because I dont think we'll get a look at Ziebell.
Yeah, and the stupid pricks turned my arguements into an anti-Richmond recruiting thread for a short time. Like they can talk...Just went through the Hill vs Rich thread on the Freo page and it seems you might be right. Most Freo supporters on BF seem to want Rich but there were some very knowledgeable posts about the benefits of Hill.
Ok so lets say Freo take Hill this opens things right up for us...
