Hi Guys

Just wanted to run a poll (i asked russian) about this draft issue i raised in that other thread.

Basically i want to know if you guys would be for or against the ability for us to draft players who dont get picked up this AFL Draft, but are elegible (as in dont get picked up in all the drafts; so aren't on a AFL list in 2006)? I know this isnt a major issue but just as an aside.

To give you an example (one i've raised already, sorry if it is repetitive), its kind of like last draft. Andrew Swallow was elegible and so any AFL club (or us) could have drafted him. As we all know he wasn't drafted and went through the system again this year and is now a very good chance to get drafted. 1st rounder perhaps even. In hindsight a club could have taken a gamble and taken him late last year without having to pay over the extra for him this year, which looks the case.
What i would like to propose is the ability for us to be able to draft guys like this , this year and beyond. Guys who may not get drafted that particular year (but are elegible), but who we may forsee as good chance to get drafted again next year. It is a gamble (and hence i would imagine most of you guys, if this was to go ahead, would be looking at doing something like this with a late pick), and so it may pay off (i.e you get a top 20-30 pick like a Swallow a year early) or it may not and you draft a dud. Thats the nature of the beast. A team that is very strong and doesnt get many high picks each year may also see this as a potential opportunity to get a guy who may go high the following year.

Like i said , this isnt a major issue and it only really relates to 1, maybe 2 at best players every year or 2. So it isnt as if you can pick up gems with pick 79.

So pretty much vote 'yes' to add this option of drafting a guy who is elegible but may not get drafted this year as such, or 'no' to not add this option and any abuse you want to add.

True. Fair Enough.

However, teams need not feel compelled to take picks like this. If a team doesnt want to they dont have to take bottom aged players like this. Also, as an opposition manager you wouldn't mind having others taking gambles on players and them not being on AFL lists; increases the chances of you winning.

I voted 'No'.

I don't see the point because this game is about the actual performances and you'll have someone on your list for no reason

Agree, their doesnt seem a justified answer to support your case andrew_embley, sorry.
