Draft priorities?

What is the general consensus of our needs in the draft (alla Club website)? Hopefully we will select the best available, but if it comes down to two or three similar quality players, which position is vital that we select first?

i would say key back but there is a tendency that good key backs can be picked up later in the draft so with a high pick we should probably go mid

i voted key defender, which is our most glaring problem area, an inside midfielder to add to the rotation would be great too. in saying a key defender, a key forward might be a better option if he was the type of player that could be groomed into a defender, and it would give us the option of playing sarge up back.

I like the way the structure is starting to look, ie Cogs goes down, throw in Foley, Newman goes down, whack in Polo etc., just get games/experience into them.

Agree, i voted for inside mids because we've invested heavily into outsiders under Wallace, but our inside brigade (Cogs, Tuck, Johno, Foley, Newman, Hartigan) were all drafted under the Frawley regime, and Wallace and co. need to start bringing in their own versions. Polo is the first example ive seen of a Wallace inside mid and he's impressed me to no ends.

This is what I'm hoping for:

1. KPP
2. Midfielder
3. KPP/ruck (whatever is left, what's better)
4. ruck/KPP (whatever is left, what's better)
5. (If we use it) top-up

IMO:

I don't think we will draft any small forwards or medium forwards, with Brown, Pettifer, Tambling and Krakouer serving us well in that area. We also wont be drafting any small backman (what's the point?) or any outside midfielders, especially as we have a few of them already

It's pretty certan that unless we get more top 30 picks, of our first two picks one will be used to pick a inside midfielder (say Proud) and the other used for a KPP (say Riewoldt). I know I'm saying the bleeding obvious but here we solve both needs. It just depends what we think needs more help (i.e. which section needs the better player). Question to be aksed is:

What do you think needs urgent attention and another top 10 draft pick, our midfield, or our KPP stocks?

i think selwood will be gone b4 our 1st pik. i wouldnt want jack riewoldt. ppl think of his bro,, hes not the same player.. and daniel connors i think will be a second rounder. selwood would be really good with pik 8 but think he will be taken at 5 or 6
