Review Draft Review

I think that's really key to looking at the drafts, taking a look at all the recent ones together to get a good picture of what might be the long term goal. I recall Hine talking last year about the quality of the 2015 draft and thinking to myself how much information he already has on kids two years away and how much planning goes into selecting long term options that will also in turn complement potential selections at the end of next year, strikes me as one of those painting that you only really appreciate when you stand a suitable distance away instead of nit-picking each individual brush-stroke.

Surely going off that list KPFs and small xfactor crumbing forwards are going to be high on the draft agenda in 15 and 16 drafts respectively.

I think we need to look at the last three drafts together to get a grasp of what Hine & Co are compiling:Grundy Kennedy Broomhead Scharenburg Freeman Langdon Moore De Goey Maynard
There is a high chance all nine of these guys will be best 22 within 2 years, that is an outstanding effort in maximising the most out of what you have got. Outside of GWS & GC (for obvious reasons) and perhaps Melbourne I think we will have the best collection of youngsters going forward. This is quite amazing given our ladder position over those years.

I have high hopes that Marsh will be part of that group.:thumbsu:

I completely failed to see that Keitel was totally overlooked. Somebody will be getting a good player in the rookie draft.
I'm actually happy with the outcome although I'd have preferred somebody other than Goodyear if I was going to be really picky. I feel like we've already got one of his type in Crisp albeit with a much better build. Knowing Hine though, the kid will likely impress the sh%t out of us and leave me with egg on my face.
Maynard looks like he could turn into a really valuable asset and has a lot of great weapons in his game. At 88kg already he's got the potential to play next year sometime and his kicking would be a welcome addition to our play.

I hear De Goey is like Beams but with a defensive side. Collingwood clear winners :drunk::drunk::drunk:
Dayne will have injured his Quad for the umpteenth time by the end of 2016 and be finished.

At the same time De Goey will be a star, Greenwood will be top 5 in our B & F 2 years running and Crisp will be playing the best footy of his career.

Interesting to see the first rounders kiss and cuddle in the video. Another year where best mates are picked. We did the South Australian boys a couple of years back. I like it if it's a strategy. It might have been something that got de goey over the line.

I'm also happy that we steering clear of hobbits. In fact, we seem to be going for boys that are above average in height. I like that too

Really? I reckon both his and Darcy's haircuts are abominations.

Therefore, they will both be brownlow medalists!
2 out of 4? We're satisfied with a 50% strike rate now?

These were the days.

At least Josh Thomas is keeping up the tradition.

Very possible, more so for small forwards then KPFs I think, though from what I hear the 2015 class' best are mostly midfielders, so it may be another year of goal-kicking midfielders. 2016 will be the first of the 2 Daicos boys coming through I hope, providing his skills come good and the f/s rule isn't changed too drastically.

If I was overlord, you would be banned for posting a photo of that namesake lead-deficient oxygen thief.

I reckon it will be a good 2 seasons before all our time starts clicking. One thing about our club us that we really develop the kids fast, hence we had one of the youngest premiership winning team in 2010.

I for one cannot wait until 2017 when our team will really be ready to make a premiership tilt for the next 6-8 yrs

Reading Dekka's description of DeGoey, he pointed out that he was a "360 degree" player. Would I be right in assuming that's Hine's way of saying he's got ridiculously good peripheral vision or is it something I'm missing?

Thats how i took it. I would say Pendles is exactly that too.....where as someone like a taylor adams is more a "get ball, kick ball forward" type

personally i'm hoping that beams wins the brownlow in 2016 and we win the premiership.....

I thought it meant he could play mid, fwd and back, variety of different roles.

That is also how I took it. He has Vision of the Whole Ground all the time just like how Pendles does. Also can sense when someone is trying to come and Tackle Him and he can just get out the way just before he get’s hit or Tackled.

Adams is Like Maynard as you say. “See Ball - Get Ball” Contested Players

Could have meant that but i think the wording of 360degrees is more a vision thing. Where as he is predominantly a midfielder

That is what I took it as and that is what Pendles has and something that makes him so good. Also makes you very Evasive

Very happy we selected De Goey, kid has a real hunger, hates losing and possesses plenty of smarts, hardness and skill.

Maynard a good hard body, mongrel defender, issues with his tank need to be sorted

Goodyear, pace and a willingness to get in and under and rip the ball out, and not much else that I am aware of, issues with kicking accuracy and decision making.

All the gold in El Dorado, especially if Mick gives Stevo another one of his narky answers... :D

The Carlton board have reined Mick in and ordered him to behave in front of the media :D

I'm guessing he means 'game awareness' ... i.e what Pendlebury has.

Contrast the way 'H' played ... He basically had a 30 degree awareness ... Gets ball, puts the elbows out, runs with the wind in his hair, and would focus on what was happening directly in front of him. Simon Buckley was a bit this way as well.
