Out of the 25 draftees, in the class photo, Harvey Langford was the only one not smiling. He makes Dusty look like a class clown. I hope the dees did plenty of character research because I'm a little concerned. Sure there's people with flat affect but when the photographer says 'okay, now a big smile everyone' and Langford doesn't twitch at all, it's borderline psychopathic.

Wasn't even happy with his friends.
He's just gutted he won't be teammates with Mac Andrew due to the AFL constantly screwing over Melbourne.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

Dustin Martin, who famously didn't amount to anything.

This is a very fair take.

I think it's tough when you've struggled for a while. Cannot be understated how important it is for all the decision makers to be on the same page. Trading out Zurhaar looks like a strong option in hindsight, seeing what compo the teams got for Battle, Perryman & Co. But if he wants to stay, he does offer something different to your mix.

Parker I can see the benefit of, and the price was right. But the idea of bringing Daniel in to allow mckercher to play mid looks silly now when you bring in Parker & Fos to a side that already has LDU, Sheezel, Wardlaw.

You've got some really good talent - things will absolutely turn but this looks like an own goal which definitely doesn't help and it puts everyone under even more pressure if it doesn't go well.
Look I think our training standards just haven't been up to par....it's a stupid thing but even when they "cross to training" on the news or whatever at other clubs always looks more intense at Hawthorn or Geelong etc, that when they do at North.
I think we decided, "F*k this! Let's raise the bar and get some hard-nosed campaigners in here!"....Granted Daniel isn't that, but he's an elite trainer, as is Darling, so it's a group think model maybe to cover every line. And Daniel was who we could pry out of somewhere.
As I said, I don't think Daniel stated at any point during negotiations he wanted to join North. So our hands were a little tied. Doesn't excuse it, but we did what we did to get experience in the door. Our senior blokes just haven't been up to it. But must be hard getting flogged regularly , something's gotta turn.

Keeping Zurhaar was stupid.

You're such a strange cat sometimes.

Maybe...just maybe he doesn't like smiling in photos?

I've got an 18 ear old sun who absolutely refuses to smile in photos....not uncommon.
Hell, I'm in my 30s and still barely smile in photos despite being a pretty cheery person. It happens and is not a big deal lol

Would have loved to of gotten Langford, He's going to be a star

I don't even remember my 30's....start smiling, live a little :)
Haha, I smile! I just had shitty teeth as a kid and got used to posing like that in photos – even after having them fixed I just never got accustomed to it

I'm the same - although in my case it could partially be that when I attempt to smile, I have the appearance of an insane serial killer (even though reality couldn't be further than the truth).

exactly my point...?

fact that out of 25 draftees he's the only one looking unhappy. That alone is concerning. And all of his interviews only confirm this. So it's not just the photos.

Even when interviewed it's a real struggle to get anything out of him. Obviously I don't care if he plays great footy but it's a character concern no doubt. It's just a watch. I'm sure the dees did their research and follow ups.

And don't say I'm a strange cat. Are you telling me I'm the only one that has noticed this and no-one on the dees board has mentioned this?

I don't think anyone knows what's actually happening, so yeah, I guess it's just what we each individually take away from each submission of 'evidence', usually what's in our Clubs' best interest.

The notion that we would give up next years pick 2-4 for a pick outside of 15 this year is no less ridiculous than when it was first said. Beyond stupid and I don't know why bandwidth keeps being wasted on it. Brady would be shot leaving Hardon St.
So much for wasted bandwidth Scab.
Is Brady still alive?

Finn isn’t the type of mid I would have wanted. Great talent.

But I rate the potential of Tauru as high as anyone. I said as much on your board the other week.
I'm with you. Finn is ideal for North as they don't need a centre square mid and Tauru is a bit wow. Needs to polish up a bit, but haven't seen a kid for a while that hits marks that hard and high with such good timing.

I don't think they've brought in Daniel to shift McKercher. I think it's more to replace the ball use from the back half that went when Sheezel moved into the midfield. A back half kicker is pretty important for your transition.

Trainor I would have been comfortable if we took him at one of our teens picks, so getting him later was great.

Faul was the one I thought we reached a bit for, and was annoyed we'd potentially miss Armstrong because of that, but that seemed to work out too.

Hotton is a bit of a risk because of the ACL risk and lack of full exposed form in his draft year, but on talent he's considered a great get and he started pretty well.
You went a higher risk/higher return draft which is fair enough with so many picks.

My query is the first two, seems to me that we're shifting to an era of fleet footed dancing mids with not many teams playing more than one brute - two brutes early isn't how I would have gone.

I think Jagga will be a big miss.

haha you win. I can't account for sheer lunacy. Hoping for the best, like our draft strategy, a hopecast.

We didn't win a flag in Queensland though, that's all I really got for you lol

Especially when they'll get Dyson Sharp next year
