Draft Talk

I think it just illustrates the unscientific nature of the draft. Expectation is one thing, but not every 1st Round kid will play straight off the bat and contribute.

Ideal Situations

1st Pick- Thorp
2nd Pick- Bacher Houli/Daniel Connors
3rd F/S- Tom Hawkins
4th Pick- Garry Moss

If this happened I would have a smile on my face for a week straight.

Other Ideal situation would be

Pick 1- Selwood
Pick 2-Morton
Pick 3-Hawkins
Pick 4-Hampson/Goldstein (ruckmen)

This covers all areas.

DANIEL CONNORS - Medium Forward, Bendigo Pioneers, Vic. DOB: 22/09/88. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 77kg.
"Daniel knuckled down over pre-season and really set himself to have a good year. Played well over the carnival and he's an exciting player who has pace, is prepared to take players, and the game on. We played him in the midfield, in defence, but mainly on the wing. From where he came from in 2005 his development has been pretty good," said Bendigo Pioneers coach Mark Ellis.
Vic Country representative, All Australian 2006, TAC Cup Team Of The Year 2006. From Echuca FC.

Connors has all sorts of off-field problems that have put a lot of clubs off.

Scenario 1 would indeed be ideal. Houli, Connors and Moss would all address our key need - midfielders with some speed who can carry the ball and dispose of it well - while Thorp looks potentially like a Pavlich type, a KPP with the mobility and skills to run through the middle as well.

Scenario 2 would be a disaster. Don't mind a young ruckman (although seriously doubt either of those two would be there at 57), but nothing there to address the quick, skilled midfielder problem. Selwood will be a fantastic player with great leadership abilities, but put him alongside Corey, Bartel and Ling and we will have the most one-paced midfield in the competition!

In my view good choices for 25 and 57 other than Houli, Connors and Moss would be Boak, Proud, Collard, Edwards, Djerkurra, Simon Hogan, Lindsay Thomas, Brock O'Brien, David Mackay and Joe Anderson.

Yeh Can you get me one on Jarryn Geary, Grant Weeks and Andy Collins

JARRYN GEARY - Medium Midfielder, Bendigo Pioneers, Vic. DOB: 23/06/88. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 78kg.
"Jarryn is a terrific story because he worked so hard on getting himself right and it was disappointing he broke his arm in the third last game. Ge was picked out in the initial Vic Country squad but came back and played well for us as a goalkicking midfielder. He got picked in the TAC Cup team of the year which was a great reward abd he's just a very honest player," said Bendigo Pioneers coach Mark Ellis.
From Eaglehawk FC.

GRANT WEEKS - Bendigo Pioneers, Vic. DOB: 17/08/88. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 91kg.
"Grant played Vic Country this year who is a forward/midfield type player. Because he's played Vic Country clubs have been able to have a look at him and he might get a rookie spot," said Bendigo Pioneers coach Mark Ellis.
