Rookie Me Central 2025 Draft Guide

Matthew Clarke on Gettable 17/11

Cal Twomey’s Phantom Draft

I’m almost coming around to the idea of Hibbens-Hargreaves at 13. One of the best in the draft by hand and in tight, good kick, 186cm. Frame is a bit of a concern but can see him succeeding early of HFF or a Wing. Vague concern it’s a Murph situation where they’re fantastic but we realise if they played for us they’d probably end up shite

I'd be fine with Sharp at 2 but I do think come the night that may be a small reach, no doubt he fills a list need though. I would love Cumming and has gone under the radar due to his injury, may be a blessing and he could be available with our third. Duursma will definitely be an Eagle.
Have we shown any interest in cumming?
I would rather us “reach” for cumming at 2 than CDT and hope sharp gets through to us at 13

I mean he’s an 18 year old kid, I’m not sure he’s the finished product as a personality yet. If his issues are figjam it’s no reason to cross him off your board.

Not a fan of dissing kids in this way tbh.
Neither, but it is a reasonable character concern for a draftee. Same reason a lot of people are taking issue with the Phillipou interview.

It would be more correct to call these half season highlights as Sullivan Robey didn't get his CTL call up until round 12, but what an impact he had once he got settled. Probably the biggest draft bolter since Clayton Oliver 10 years ago, Sullivan had a fairytale final stretch of the season, not just with his brilliant personal run of form but also providing the catalyst to spark an Eastern Ranges team that went from good to great, stomping through the finals series to take out the CTL premiership.

On Gettable Robey said he was now 192cm.

Already taller than Waterman. Kid looks like he won the genetics lottery.

And the home gym set up he uses with his family. Crickey.

The issue with him he hasnt played against the best teams aka state teams and not a lot of physical pressure coming at him. So he has more time to dispose. He wont get that at the higher levels.

A taller Dustin Martin or a Jai Culley?

I like Robey too but I do like high ceiling players.

Waterman is 192cm as well

Small sample size in the CTL. But I don't think there has been a draftee this year that has been that consistent and that much of a weapon in back to back to back games like this kid. His 6ish games is better than any other 6 games you can drum up with from another draftee.
Not really.
I think he is just a leadup forward who jumped into the top team at the right time.

You don’t want that immaturity in a draftee

Fantasy definitely, but if we really are into CDT at 2 I'd almost want us to trade back from 13 if there's no Sharp or Cumming slider and try to pick up Addinsall and Oudshoorn-Bennier. Think its the next step down imo of a Phillipou and NHH, and further a Sharp and Cumming double up. Not in terms of skill set but in terms of similar tier midfield prospects.

Massey is very much aware of the SA talent.

So delisted this week.

Clohsey
George Stevens - Cats commit to rookie list if there.
Phillips
Hobbs

The two Cats mids are worth considering. Clohsey I believe we have offerred a contract.
Likely to have 2 Cat A spots for players like this, in order of preference I’d go:

1/ Hollands (Train on only)
2/ Lual
3/ Stumpf
4/ Clohesy
5/ Phillips
6/ Evans

I also wouldn’t mind giving Geelong a big fu k you and taking George Stevens at pick 1 in the rookie draft. I also haven’t seen enough of Anderson or Blamires to make an informed comment.

On Phillips I was reading some of the Will Phillips comments on the north board. Seems like a quality bloke in a good age bracket in a postion of need. Had glandular fever which like Alec Waterman he never properly recovered from. I’d be pretty keen to explore a train on spot, had so much potential despite the athletic limitations at U18 level.

Feel like this gif has been used a dozen times already in regards to Cummings. If we draft him every second post for the rest of time will just be this gif.

Well it has been a few years now since the departure of Willie, so we have a lot of sexual innuendo to make up for.

I like your list.

Someone mentioned we would draft according to who we rookie, when I recon, who we end up in the draft will very much dictate who we consider for a rookie spot.

Dev is in already.
Gaining sharp would likely eliminate the need for clohesy, blamires, Phillips or Stevens (although I would like to **** you the cats). Then Holland's lual stumpf positional selection gets exciting.

If we don't get another inside mid, sharp, then we will need another. Phillips is elite with training standards. Is very stringent with all facets of recovery and preparation.
