List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

Most mock drafts have him going around 12-15. I think alot of clubs are remembering how Stringer paid off.

Different injury to Stringer. Stringer's from what I can gather was an open fracture to the shaft of his Tibia and Fibula, main issue with this is potential infection (Which was obviously controlled) and surrounding soft tissue damage, the bone will return to pretty much normal structural strength. If that all heals up well and he's showing good recovery in the short term, he's not a massive risk.

The issue with Burton is that he had a Tibial Plateau fracture, which essentially means that the joint surface and cartilage will have also been damaged, plus the other ligaments in his knee that were damaged(thankfully not the ACL though). He's essentially a 100% chance of developing osteoarthritis to that knee, which will only be hastened by playing AFL. With Burton there's not only the initial recovery that he has to get through, with massive questions on how his athleticism will be effected, but then the question is a what point will the arthritis get the better of him. Will it be 20 years down the track after he's enjoyed a full career, or will it be 5 years down the track. There's a very big chance that his return from injury will mirror that of Trent Hentschell's.

Personally, I wouldn't be risking a 1st rounder on a player who's had such an injury, a second sure, but not a first.

Francis is a must get first round then Burton if available. Taking a punt on a Geelong falcon or another country Victorian when similar prospects from SA are available isn't worth it.
The only time I'd look at a Vic kid is if they are far and away a better talent than what we have left from here.

I think we should use our 3 picks on these guys and look at another ruck (Gorringe maybe) & a Key forward in the rookie draft as well.

9. Adelaide – Harrison McKay (VIC – KPF/RUCK)
Height: 200cm, Weight: 85kg, DOB: 24/12/1997
Recruited from: Gippsland Power
Range: 5-30
Profile: Developing athletic tall forward.

13 – Wayne Milera (SA – MID/FWD)
Height: 185cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 14/09/1997
Recruited from: Central Districts
Range: 5-25
Profile: Damaging midfielder with class and evasiveness.

28 - Luke Partington (SA – MID/FWD)
Height: 182cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 05/03/1997
Recruited from: Port Adelaide
Range: 10-50
Profile: High level accumulator with good pace and footskills

Why on earth does Mathieson keep coming up? Good footballer; yes. Slow; yes. Inside mid; yes. Ordinary kick; yes.

Do we want to populate our team solely with slow inside mids with suspect kicking?

You keep saying this but how many times have you seen him play. Is this opinion derived by reading posters draft notes or have you legitimately seen him play?
You're so emphatic with your views that it appears you must have seen him up close to form such a strong opinion.
I'll put my hand up and admit I've only seen the championship games and assorted highlights on the web but his kicking is fine. Hits the target and his ball getting abilities are excellent. Not even concerned about his pace, I'm of the opinion he would be an excellent pick up but he'll be gone before our pick.
Really can't agree with you on this one.

Keep it in our backyard unless they're in the Fyfe class.

I like the look of Milera. Usually the guys who step up at SANFL level especially late in the season in finals are the ones who do well at AFL level, just shows the mentally he's strong enough to perform in big games. Would be happy to use 9 on him as he fits our needs perfectly as well. I like the look of Curnow as well, big body who can push into midfield maybe.

The talent level is such, so you take a chance. Think the trade to Norf of Jed Anderson. We all thought a 2nd to 3rd rounder would be plenty. Pick 13 for Burton means you get him. Pick 28or 32 makes it a lottery. Best thing is he is a SA lad. Weideman had a bad injury as well. McKay is the only tall with real talent apart from Burton.

Burton's injury was very severe and he hasn't made an appearance since apart from going into the combines. Really relying on the Crows medical staff to do their due diligence on this player. If they select him here then I have faith they did extensive testing, if he slides I sure they have worries as well.

Exactly right. That is reason why we never drafted Jackson Trengove. Our staff had serious misgivings about his knee but Port took him anyway. He is good but misses a lot of games still. Burton's dad, Craig had a lot of talent was a very good player for North Adelaide in his day. I watched him play every game at Prospect oval. If Ryan has more talent as suggested he will be very very good.

Anyone think they might look at Kieran Collins as a Hartigan replacement? Collins, Lever and Talia would be a pretty awesome trio in the back line.

Hartigan is coming along nicely, I don't understand the urgency to replace him. We have some good tall defenders on our list in the SANFL.

Huge overstatement ......let's say Hartigan hasn't gone backwards anymore

CHB is a key structural position in a side .....Hartigan is not the medium term answer

Lever will be our CHB .....this will be recognized when this board goes WOW at his weight gain

The way Lever plays he will be a perfect third tall even with the weight gain.

HIGHLY doubt Kieran Collins on our radar ......if needed we'll take M.Talia much cheaper get ....our focus will be midfield / offensive players

It's a possibility ....real possibility that layout ....maybe interchanging your #9 & #13 picks

I'm not 100% convinced with him yet. Highlight packages on YouTube are a bit mixed. Solid sanfl games late in the year, granted.

What sort of player do you think he'll eventually be similar to? Shaun Burgoyne type?
Really any 18 yr old who can kick 5 goals and have 25 possessions in an SANFL league is pretty impressive. Add to that he has electrifying speed and elite skills. Not to mention he can play as a damaging forward, wing, or running half back.

He meets a huge need, has X-factor and is an SA boy.

Any love for Clayton Oliver? He's apparently a stoppage specialist which I know we have covered but he also has a decent burst of speed, not sure what his footskills are like though, could be a Danger replacement??

Partington is actually from Norwood now.

My only issue with Francis and Burton is what position do they play at AFL level?
Jack of all trades master at done potentially.
Elite talents yes. But what need do they fill?

People just live of fairytales on here. Lever made a lot more mistakes than hartigan this yr and yet everyone wants to get on hartigans back. Played well I thought
