Drafting Rules - Scott Reed

I think we'll take him with the last pick in the national draft given his reported performances in the U18 champs.

The other thing to consider though is we will get another 2 rookie spots next year (6 rookies & 2 veterans ) as part of the Gold Coast deal, to try an keep clubs happy

Yes.

However if we're to take him as a rookie, he has to agree to it, or he could choose to nominate for the National Draft and we'd have no claim over him.

If possible I'd take him as a rookie with rookie lists now being extended. I'm not sure how good he is, where would he go in the draft (if at all?).

He's reportedly in the best 2 players from the NSW under 18 team. Of course, they are traditionally not strong but they weren't bad this year.

I'd guess and say he would be a good chance to be drafted this year with a latish pick (if not for us having a claim).

The Rams are currently equal 2nd this year with WA on the ladder in the National Champs, with 2 wins, 1 loss. They shouldn't be dismissed and I think Reed and Ediriwickrama in particular would go around the middle of the National Draft, hypothetically.

Reed is 17.

I wonder how the new rookie list extension will affect our team list. Will we seek to delist and then rookie one or two players on the fringe, perhaps?

What are his stats; height weight?

can he ruck? lol.

he is consistently in the bests for nsw so i guess thats good signs, especially because they've been competitve in the championships.

If he's good enough to justify a national draft pick (and most reports seem to suggest he is), it'll be interesting to see what they do. In the last uncompromised draft in years, they might be desperate to take advantage of as many national draft picks as possible -- and so squeeze Reed onto the rookie list. On the other hand, it would be a nice incentive for the other scholarship kids, and kids we try to talk into signing up for a scholarship, to see the first cab off the rank go straight onto the senior list.

As long as we don't outsmart ourselves by losing him in the national draft after all the work we've put in, I'm happy with whatever option they choose.

I am playing against him this week and a couple weeks before that played against Thomas Young's team, Campbelltown and he is also a good player that Collingwood have recruited

In Hines We Trust :D

Yeah, AWAF more info mate. Dont make that statement without giving us the lowdown.

Sorry Guys Thomas Young plays off the half back flank and is a good rebounder. Likes to make his forward accountable but still manages to defend his forward as well. Reed and Young play very similar roles to each other.

Unless you are playing for Vic Metro on Saturday or SA on Wednesday you wont be playing against him this week AWA:D.
Might mean Pennant Hills are down a few numbers this week with Scott, Ranga and the 2 Josh's away though:thumbsu:

If we are struggling for list spots he will go to the rookie list. IMO a lot depends on the clubs view on Maccafer's future at the pies. He cetainly will get a gig somewhere else if we don't promote him but he really is at the worst club in the league to be an under sized foward competing with the likes of Medhurst, Thomas and Didak.

If we are going to promote Maccafer, Reed may well go on the rookie list if not I dare say we will just take him too the seniors. As mentioned Rocca will be on the LTI for the first half of next season anyway and like it or not someone is more then likely to end up on it second half of the season too so being on the rookie list won't really hinder his chance of playing one's if he demands a spot.

Who has said that Rocca will be on the LTI list for the first half of 2009?

I thought it was a 6 to 12 week injury and he is a chance to play before the end of this season again.
