God i hope we get this kid, he is the next Adam Goodes and should be around our pick 3-5:D

we should also look to trade players with current value:
Jackson
Raines
Tuck
White

Could get us a couple more 2nd round picks :thumbsu:
we should only trade 1 max, because with the weak draft and our bad reputation of not developing players, we might give away a kid that can play for a dud.

Interesting you say that.......

“(My role models) used to be the bigger guys on the team — the key-position players,” he said. “More this year it’s the running guys. (Brett) Deledio and players like that who really run and carry.
“That’s what I try to model my game on especially for this team. It comes naturally. When you get a bit of confidence, that’s what happens.”
I dont think he would mind playing along side one of his role models and having lids as a mentor

Ok out of those listed above who would you consider to get rid of?
i see Tuck and white as possible options.

We should be playing kids such as Melbourne and we would probably finish last allowing us to pick Scully/Butcher up with pick #2. Worse come to worse we finish 15th with pick #3 and pick up Morabito as Scully/Butcher will most likely be gone. I can't see Fremantle or West Coast being bad enough to win less than 4 games from here, the tank would have to be well and truly rolled out. We just have to play out cards right.

If Melbourne win 4 or less games , it's a moot point as they will get picks 1 & 2....personally I don't want to finish last and only get pick 3...it's won't be like '07 where we lucked out and got the best player in the draft anyway, because Carlton needed a ruckman....

I thought if we finish last, even if they win less than 4 they get pick #1 and #3 instead of #1 and #2? Maybe I'm just confused. I swear I saw it somewhere.

agree play the kids and if we win great.

Exactly, if we win with lots of kids in such as Melbourne it's great as you see there's hope for they future, if they lose.... it's no biggie as they're developing and getting game time. If we win with all the same old players with no long-term future in it's like, great.... but uh... what's the point in playing them? Hopefully the Caretaker coach understands this concept.

I dunno, everybody's been saying they'll take both Butcher & Scully who'll most likely go 1 & 2 at this stage...though now I remember Carlton got 1 & 3 when they had the priority so you could be right...I just assumed the AFL had moved the goalposts again like they usually do ...though I could be thinking of the talk earlier this year when many people thought WCE weren't going to win more than 4...which would've meant we only got pick 5 at best..I think...

Yeah, I'm 99% sure if we finish last and they finished 15th still with less than 4 wins, they get picks #1 and #3 and we get #2. I feel it would be very similar to the Cotchin/Kreuzer situation with Butcher/Scully. Both were very highly rated and either could have gone #1, just depended on the clubs needs. Carlton needed a ruckman so they took Kreuzer. The way I see it is we need 1 more highly skilled mid and a KPF so getting whichever one Melbourne didn't take would be great. However, that's if all things pan out and go our way, being Richmond.... that's not likely.

I love the circular nature of the tanking argument.

We're not winning, therefore the players are crap, therefore we need to tank to get better draft picks, which means we wont be winning, which means the players are crap, which means we need to tank to get better draft picks, which means we're not winning...

I remember people asking how many recruiter we had? so i had a look and it's 3 but I think there would be more who are just correspondents.

And it also looks like we have someone with the sole purpose of recruiting forwards.

Forward Scout - Gordon Casey
Recruitment Manager - Francis Jackson
Recruiting Officer - Matthew Clarke
Recruiting Officer - Richard Taylor

Actually a forward scout is the bloke who goes and watches up coming sides. He would do the ground work for the coaches by reporting back who is playing well, who is tagging, forward setups, defensive setups and other gameday stuff.

Interesting scenario - Say after 22 rounds it ends up

14.wce
15. richmond
16 melbourne

if west coast won 4 or less last season (cant remember) and they win 4 again this season

draft will go
pick 1 overall PP melb
pick 2 overall PP wce
pick 3 overall pick 1 melb
pick 4 overall pick 2 rich
pick 5 overall pick 3wce

Considering wce are already on 3 wins, WE MUST not beat them this week, if we do, we'll be looking at pick 5. If they beat us, odds are they will miss out on a PP which will probably give us pick 3 overall (theres no way melbourne will dare finish above 16th). This weeks game will be very very interesting as worsfold has already signalled about 2 weeks ago he's going the tank

We must bring a bigger tank. :thumbsu:

Ah I see. I've always heard them referred to as a Opposition analyst.

Why are all of you talking about tanking! shit! if you really want to tank go to the Carlton board!! you are all hypocrites!! let the season run its course and play the young players to see how they go, lets not try and lose games, and i dont want another wooden spoon next to our name!

I can really see us winning another 4-5 games this season and finishing around 13th. Which would give us a pick around the #4,5,6 dependant on other teams.. Then hypothetically the draft goes something like Butcher, Scully etc. We would definately be looking at best available midfielder, as not many other real forward standouts..

Spot on, who knows what happens during draft days. you only have to look at last years draft carlton took Yarran at 6 and brisbane took Rich at 7 who all expexted to go top 3. so just let the year pan out the top 10 this year will be very good.

coke zero i have never seen a post from you that is more than 1-3 lines long you dont offer much insight
