Drafts Gone By - I was Wrong

With the draft this week I thought it may be fun for people to put their hands up in a thread about players we drafted, or players that you wanted the dogs to draft that just never made it.

I will kick it off with two in more recent years...

Sam Reid
I loved his draft video and saw him bursting runs out of stoppages and labelled him Chris Judd like in the way he could do that. Injuries prevented him from being everything he could be but Im not sure I saw him show any sign that his draft video at AFL level

O'Keefe
The little left footed goal sneak from down geelong way I liked alot and thought he would make it as a Lukey Power type assets for us - Oh how I was wrong.

From the year before (I was Cautious about Stringer, loved Macrae) - Lachlan Plowman (I knew him it is how i got into the draft)

I was dirty as anything that Melb got away with the doing whatever backroom deal to get Viney as a 2nd rounder.
Its amazing that although Melbourne keep getting gifted top end scenarios the Karma bus always seems to smash them. I'll be looking at this years pick 3 GIFT to see if that continues to happen.

I wanted us to pick up Cameron Conlon with a late pick/rookie selection.

This year he's not even on the radar as a rookie, faded into obscurity.

You're not alone there...I was sure Scharenberg was our best option.

Absolutely loved Toumpas too, still reckon he will come good, hasn't had it easy at Melbourne!

He was always a very professional kid but had a pretty tough run going from looking like a high pick then going undrafted and getting injured again, apparently just didn't take his footy seriously enough when he was healthy again this year, reckon he will realise he wants it again very soon and put in a year or two of good footy and get drafted, definitely one to look at as a bit of a high reward smokie in the next year or two.

Just recently he was done for drug trafficking I think. No one could understand why he couldn't get a game after consistently dominating in the 2s.

That was after he'd been delisted, but yeah he obviously had some issues before then as well.

The story goes he offered Brad Johnson a bag of something on mad Monday and Johnno threw him up against a wall and gave him a massive spray. Was delisted soon enough.

Melbourne could be handed the 18 year old reincarnations of Ablett Sr and Jr, Wayne Carey, Leigh Matthews and Ted Whitten and still manage to turn them into duds.

Nothing to be worried about with Kade Kolodjashnij he is a jet, i wanted
both brothers. GWS picked up Plowman at three and they get paid to
do it.

My guilty one is Toumpas and Scharenberg and probably four or five
from this year, but it's too early to call yet.
