Not many players at 34 with 300 games under their belt would move to the other side of the country to be rookie listed as a 3rd or 4th choice forward/ruckman.

4 goals last week with Kennedy out, and supported Vardy in the ruck. Another useful game today with 8 marks and supporting Vardy in the ruck again.

Not the world's greatest tap ruckman but gives a good contest around the ground and a strong marking target forward. 100% satisfied with his work as an insurance policy.

I was happy to recruit the lad on the basis that we needed an extra tall, but watching him last year - thought he was shot

However he is like an old dog when a puppy comes into the household - found some life.

I love his defensive endeavours. Should go back to being our second ruck next week

Wasn't pleased with his recruitment, but he's won me over. Super competitive on the field and given our current circumstances with injury, we're really lucky we picked him up. Heard him on the radio last week and seems like a down to earth, likeable bloke. Didn't give the robotic answers to questions.

Simpson must be a pretty good bloke to convince Petrie and Mitchell to move across the country.

Petrie goes hard in every single contest and even chases every player with his gangly running style. He has been fantastic for the club on field, and from watching all the boys get around him, off the field too.

Has surprised everyone and been very good all year. Lycett is tearing up the WAFL though, will be interesting next week on selection night.

Drew should probably get best clubman this year.

Predictable & Reliable is what i'd use to describe Drew.

Never really rated him that highly before he moved over, but i can see why North fans loved him so much.

Sounds like a ripping bloke too after listening to him on the back chat podcast. Glad we got him across - has definitely come in handy this year with Lycett & Nic Nat being largely unavailable.

I was absolutely deadset against drafting him even if it was only as a rookie. Thought it was one of the worst decisions we'd made as I just couldn't see the sense in bringing a player across that I thought was shot

Was I wrong

Saw the signs during preseason when he worked his arse off and didn't take the concessions the club was prepared to give him as an older player

Gives everything when he plays and he's had an influence in games. Great warrior and I wouldn't bat an eyelid if they extend the one year only arrangement by a year

If there's no extension, he seems to like WA so he'd be an asset at EP or the stand alone WCE team depending on what happens with that arrangement in 2018. Especially if it's a stand alone team

Outstanding person

Always liked him as a player. Can't argue with anything said in this thread but if young blokes see a 34 yo seasoned vet from another club going in hard, that must inspire them if nothing else.

Put my hand up and say I was strongly against wasting this pick on Petrie who I thought was washed up and never really that good.

Absolutely loves playing footy and does everything for the jumper he's wearing. Such a good role model on field on how to attack a contest, like a poor mans Josh Kennedy and I mean that in a good way.

Our second best 300 gamer ever!

He has turned back the clock and been a genuine option up-forward for us, but more importantly, he has played with heart
Definitely worth the rookie upgrade! (and has proved a few people, including me, wrong)

Doing exactly as required and you can't ask more than that. Class act.

Scotland thanks for starting this thread. This bloke has been a real asset to our club in so many ways. Some of our players would do well to take notice of the way he tries his guts out week after week - its no wonder he was so well respected at North. I am just so glad for him and his family that they are enjoying life over here in the West.
Drew deserves every bit of appreciation that we can show him.
