Thread reeking excessive amounts of stupid with a few of the same old flogs dropping in to confirm their derpness.

Yeah Petrie just destroyed the really weak and insipid backmen like Rance 7 goals and a lazy 5 in the last quarter.
Beat Rance that day and full credit to him. Rance had always struggled against the 200cm ish forwards. Tall opponents are his achillies heal. Still, from the stats it seems Petrie struggles against good opposition. He's a downhill skier and a very good one at that. I'd take him ahead of Schultz but as forwards it's a lot closer than people think. Jay just needs to stay on the park to show his full potential.

Petrie, only because of his ability to pinch hit in the ruck and to also play a marvelous role as a "decoy forward" against good teams for future superstars like Robbie Tarrant and Lachie Hansen.

Regardless of whether you actually believe Petrie was playing a decoy role that day, it makes all the sense in the world to expose Hardingham on Tarrant and, in another game, Raph Clarke on Hansen.

That's just good coaching and the whole point of the triple towers being introduced by North.

And Heath Shaw on Lachie Hansen I think - why would we still kick it to Petrie who was being manned by a proper KF at that time?

Petrie needs to perform in some big games against some good teams but hes still better than Jay.

Petrie isnt in the same class as Franklin Riewoldt Pavlich etc though and never will be given his age

Considering who started it do you expect any less?
I responded to a gopower request. Vote for who you think is better. Who starts the poll should not have a say on who is better. Unless you are a baby.

I think this is very accurate. Particulalry Drew needing to perform in big games.

He has had 5 finals now, and has been average at best in them, but poor in most.

We have been average or poor in most finals. Hard for a forward to do much when the ball is at the opposite end if the ground.

True, but he was only average vs Hawthorn and Sydney, one of which we won, the other that we only got over run in the last quarter.

But the other 3 where smashings, its true.

Perspective folks.

2012 elimination: We were slaughtered in the midfield, combined with the fact that he was playing on a good opponent.
2008 elimination: Was played in an absolute bog in Sydney (23 hit outs & 6 tackles, far from disgraced)
2007 qualifying: Played forward in a side that was slaughtered.
2007 semi: 14 disposals and 9 marks. Good game
2007 Prelim: Played forward in a side that was slaughtered.

He was pretty raw and underdone prior to 2007.

Any goals?

If you asked a bunch of mates at the footy it would be close but Petrie would get the nod.

There is a change of logic on BF because people are sick of certain suporters and therefore their clubs. This is very high for North, Bulldogs, Essendon and occasionally Richmond (particularly when talking big 4 or memberships.)

Schultz is miles ahead of Petrie?

Who performed vs top 8 etc.

It's a lot closer than some Nth supporters think but Petrie has done more, has more strings to his bow and dominated games more than Schultz.

Neither are in the Buddy level but both are capable of a game of it.
