Hey guys, I have a problem/question

I turned 16 in September and started my apprenticeship a few weeks before.
I got a learners driving permit and have competent driving ability.
I am in a good position because my boss lives next door to me.

However, apparently I am moving out sometime next year and most likely to an area about 30-35kms from home, about half an hours drive.

I can't legally drive alone until at least September next year.
I own my own car.

Is there some sort of permit I can get to drive to and from work?
What should I do?

MG

lol nah man the only way to do it is too get your license at 18
until then your going to hafto either get a lift there or catch public transport

edit:unless its 17 in wa?

god ive been reading up on the WA licensing system
its so confusing....seems like you go through 2 phases of learners permits and then 2 phases on your Ps??

In QLD you can put in for a special circumstances claim. Lets you go for your P's earlier. Not by all that much though.

Yeah E Plates man, my mate had them since he was 16 for his apprenticeship

Cool, there is something to help me.

Any advice on how to go about getting these?
Google it.

Try some key words like say.... "Extraordinary licence Western Australia"

Theory test pass= Phase 1 L'S
Practical test=Log Book/Stage 2 L'S
25 hour +6 months +Hazard Perception test= 1st stage P'S (Red)
6 months on Red P's=Green P'S

It is quite messed up. First of all, why have the six month limit with only 25 hours? Might as well increase it to 50+. Im half way through my log and it hasn't even been 2 months yet. Luckily I don't have to wait for six months either because I got my permit before the new rules came in last year.

Secondly, and this is another terrible rule, and that is Phase 1 P Platers are prohibited from driving from 12am to 5am. Inconvenient for decent citizens, and can really mess up plans if travelling and something unforeseen happens.

It doesnt really make sense does it? What's the point of stage 2 learners..
These days, it doesnt make sense to ban people from the road at 12am-5am.
Its become more of a 24-hour world.

I think in England when my mum did it, you could start learning at 16? and when you could pass a practical test you got your license

I think SA has the best learning/provisional driver's licence system.

- Turn 16, sit an online test, pass and get your L's.
- Complete 50 hours of supervised driving.
- Either complete your log book with a driving instructor or sit the driving test.
- Be at least 16 and six months, pass the above and get your P1's.

- Conditions of P1's are you can't go more than 100km/h, blood alcohol limit is 0.00 and you must display your P plates.
- Stay on that for 12 months without any incidents and sit a Hazard Perception test on a computer.
- Pass and you move onto your P's where the conditions are the same except you don't have to display your P plates.

- To obtain your full licence you must be 19, have held your P2's for at least six months and haven't committed a driving offence.

Easy pesy ;)

Maybe going to your local Department of Transport and ask them?

I know in NSW you can get a special license for exactly what you need that only allows you to drive unsupervised on a set route (being to and from your workplace). I'd imagine you'd be able to get much the same in WA, but given you're pretty much another country, who knows.

Adelaide is probably the best for your provisional licence. Canberra's is also pretty good. Go and sit your L's on the computer at 15 and 9 months. Have your L's til your 17 and there is no required hours to be done. You can either do a log book with the instructor (min of 6 lessons) or do a 1 off test (have to pass with 95%). There are no green P's only red. You can be on your red P's for 6 months and then you can do a hazards test and you don't have to display you plates.

Full licence after 3 years. Pretty handy.

Better of just driving, and being really careful. On the off chance you get pulled over, put on a mexican accent, start acting really distressed and then bolt. most police are slow so they wont catch you.

Umm...the curtains fade there during daylight saving and the shops never open on Sundays.... best option, the airport.

With your views on death, I don't know if I want to share the roads with you. Oh NVM, you're over in WA. Go right ahead. Make sure you drive past a few of those eagles players at some stage, but make sure you don't accidentally swerve towards them.

I sold my old motorised pushbike to friend of a friend who lost his licence.

Wasnt bad on the flat or slight hill had a whipper snipper motor in it.
Didnt need a licence in Qld at the time then the laws changed guy who bought it was in Vic.(different laws??)

Called the Magistrates about an hour ago.
Have been shunted between no fewer than 7 departments including 2 of the DPI and the Armadale court.
Currently on hold (again).

EDIT: The first civil court number told me they heard Midland court dealt with it and promptly put me through to Armadale court ()

After going back to the magistrates, they instead told me theyve never heard of such a case.

For **** Sake Will Someone Make Up Their ****ing Mind
