While tinkering with my team on yet another lazy Sunday. I noticed the lack of dual position players I had in my side. Personally I have gone with Gazza, Swan, Danger, Cotch, Moloney, K.Stevens, Wines, O'Meara with K.Mitchell & Viney on the bench. And in the forward line I have Rockliff and Varcoe with Neade on the bench who can all play mid, but have no mid-fielders with the forward line dual position.

Same goes for the Defence. I have BJ, Gibbs, Hartlett B.Goodes with Colquhoan on the pine that can all play Midfield.. but no mid-fielders currently with the defence dual position tag.

So again, is it as important this year, do you trust your bench cover without dual position or given that we are allowed more trades, not as much?

with the quality of the mid rookies this year, and the lack of quality in the forwards it is hard to beef up your mid field with DPP rookies.

I've gone with a def/mid rookie option in the midfield, but dont want to limit myself anymore by removing another mid rookie for a fwd/mid DPP option.

In the long with the extra trades, it's better to chase the points than the option of being able to move players around.

I've gone 5 prem mids ad 5 rookies with Colquhoan and Bartlett on the bench giving me fwd and back dpp capability

At the start of the year I don't view it as worthwhile. Your team will be changing too much over the year to plan that far ahead. However as you start making trades and bringing in new rookies/players, especially when getting low on trades and in the latter part of the year, having DPP links definitely becomes more important. Switching a DPP player can effectively save donuts repeatedly once your team becomes a bit less planned.
