These endless mentions of yours of the PSD. Just thought i'd clear it up. Always happy to help.

North planning on finishing last then?Dusty can still walk to the psd regardless of whether he's unrestricted or restricted..

North planning on finishing last then?
Won't come to that.
Dusty will nominate his club of choice (North Melbourne), Richmond won't risk matching, and just play it out professionally by accepting first round compo, and that'll be it. Welcome to North Dusty.
I see quite a few problems with this:
1) Why his club of choice is North Melbourne? Best mate Marley Williams, $1.3m+, win finals. Easy decision.
2) Why won't Richmond risk matching? If Richmond match and Dusty turns around and says he'll stay, they probably wouldn't wanna be stuck paying massive amount of coin (way overs for a player that is already playing for them) for a player that basically ****ed them over.
Should he choose to leave, it'll end up in the Dangerfield scenario and North will simply trade for him.
However I doubt he'll leave Richmond.
If Dusty wishes to leave, it'll be done respectively and professionally. Richmond will take the first round compo.
You're offering up no explanation as to why Richmond will take the first round compo when they'd get better value by matching.
Wont match any offer? With that statement your assuming the offers will be atleast 1.4 +?Read the post again.
The whole Richmond matching thing is just a tiger fans idea of not losing dusty for nothing because they can't fathom it.
Would be willing to bet. IF Dusty leaves, whether that be to any club, that Richmond won't match a free agency offer.
Fwiw I think it's 50/50 whether he leaves or not. Pretty hard to read at this stage.

You're not quite up to speed on how things work.
Richmond can't make an offer based on driving up draft pick value
Richmond have the final offer and he stays or goes to the PSD:
Restricted free agents have the right to move to a club of their choice, subject to the current club’s right of first refusal over their services. That is, if the current club can ‘match’ the offer from a suitor club, the player must stay or enter the draft

It's not a "Tigers fans idea of not losing Dusty for nothing".
Richmond would match the offer because then North would have to trade for him or else they won't get him, it would play out exactly the same as the Dangerfield situation.
This is why we are having the discussion. This is just a straight up untruth Stevo.Read the post again.

Serious question:
Would you be happy if your club paid a massive contract to retain a player that didn't want to be at your club?
I know I wouldn't.
The great irony of this ongoing discussion is that I seem to be assigning a higher level of integrity to the RFC, than some of its own supporters!
No but given that North in this case are offering so much money for him gives me the impression that they are desperate to acquire Martin and if they don't trade for him instead (Richmond "unofficially matching the contract") then he scoots off to what I'm going to assume will be Brisbane.

To make matters worse, they'd be paying all that money, for a player who essentially wants to play elsewhere. Not good on culture.
If Richmond decided to match, it wouldn't come down to psd, he'd just stay. Problem here is, Richmond don't want to be paying the amount of north's offer, which they inevitably would if they decided to match. Not to mention its way overs for a player already playing for your club. To make matters worse, they'd be paying all that money, for a player who essentially wants to play elsewhere. Not good on culture.
Once again, If Dusty wants to leave, Richmond will let him go, and they'll receive first round compo. That's it. Believe it. That's what happens.
I can't honestly see Brendan gale & Co. going to this extent. It just looks bad. They have more respect for their club.
Except when it didn't happen to Dangerfield........
How does it look bad? They'd be looking to get better value than what they would get from the compo, it's looking after the club.
The big difference is Geelong weren't offering anything near Dangerfields top dollar.
What's he believed to be on, $800K?
Adelaide only had to pay $800k to keep danger, completely different scenario.
1) It looks like grovelling.
2) Maxing out Richmond's available cap would put them out of the market to improve their list.
Just like you were saying before, that seems like an assumption.
Regardless 800k is still a lot to commit to a player who wants to leave yet Adelaide still held firm and Geelong buckled.
It doesn't look like grovelling at all, it looks a club weren't prepared to get completely shafted.
It won't max out Richmond's available cap because like Geelong did North would cave and enter trade talks for Martin because otherwise he'd be off to Brisbane.......
....it wouldn't look good for North Melbourne to heavily commit to a player and then back out at the last second.
