Are you saying that there are no players currently worth $1.2M, or that there are, but Dusty isn't one of them?1) I know.
2) Don't take it personally.
Dustin Martin is not worth $1.2 million , much less $1.4 million.

The small club vs the big club thing I guess. I absolutely love north and everything we stand for from community to family to social conscience (ie no gambling) etc. I also love going to watch North play and having fun at games whether the crowd is big or small, but I suspect there are many out there that don't view us as being as glamorous as the large clubs that play in front of big crowds at the G.Why can't you visualise him coming to Arden St? Because we are a "small club" or is it because we are "Norf" or because we have "4 members"? Those things are irrelevant when money is involved.

Agreed.Fyfe reportedly is on 1.2 and if you ask me even that's overs. No wonder he signed.
There's only way to fix the perception we're a 'small' club.. turn ourselves into a large club. The small club vs the big club thing I guess. I hate it as much as anyone when I hear bullshit that we're not a "destination" club (apart from that type of commentary being insulting to everyone at North from the Pres to the players to the trainers) because if anything North is an amazing destination club for everything good I've just mentioned above. North stands for something positive, has a great culture and all of us that love our club know that.
I feel though that if offered similar money a player at a large club would probably stay there because of the fact that it's a large club....but that's just my perception. I know there have been situations where that's not the case and again I'd quite happy to be wrong in this respect.
Getting Kellys or martins will help thatThere's only way to fix the perception we're a 'small' club.. turn ourselves into a large club.
Don't want him too expensive stay at Richmond please ....![]()

And he is the Tiger's board 'go to guy.'And there it is. The dumbest thing I will read this year. Maybe this decade. Kudos to you.

Yeah but we want to be secure forever more and being smaller means being an easy target (which I absolutely f....g hate)Never. My love for North is the fact we are a small club. We scrap and fight and get the leftovers, fine.
I never want to be Man. City, Real Madrid, Collingwood or the Yankees.
Sorry Sherm.

People who follow big clubs because they're big clubs are generally overcompensating for something. There's only way to fix the perception we're a 'small' club.. turn ourselves into a large club.

I think we have. At least $1.4 anyway. If the Tiger's offer is as reported then it is the only justifiable explanation as to why he hasn't put pen to paper. I wouldn't buy into the whole Ralph Carr chasing extra publicity crap. He is weighing up whether he wants an extra million in his pay packet over 6 years. My opinion only.Make an offer too good to refuse.

It's great to see that you're making real progress with your therapy!A few of you guys have asked and gone on and on about " Why has Dusty not signed if he wants to stay a tiger etc etc ?"
Let me pose this. The tigers and Dusty knew 6 months ago, he was staying at the club, just had finer details to work out. 3 months ago, Dusty is convinced the clubs on the right path and is happy with the coin. Due to Carr being on record they wanted to wait till the end of year, Dusty/Carr and the Tigers decide to create a win/win. They allow it to drag on, Carr gets exposure that money cant buy, Tigers on the other hand, have opposition clubs like yours being stalled in being able to lock in players as you cant commit cap space budgeted for Dusty.
Tigers meanwhile are working behind the scenes, talking to those uncontracted players being stalled by clubs like north and gws. Getting on the front foot, offering attractive offers as we also have a shit load of cap space. No lids, no yarran, no hampson and further delistings this year, while the cap has gone up by 20%. Essentially we pay Dusty 1.2 ( really a million considering the cap increase) for 7 years, lock him in as a one club player...while pinching one or two up and coming guns from teams like GWS and yours......its so crazy it may be true![]()
Yeah I get it but I wouldn't mind landing a decent big name player every now and then, not getting knocked back because we are perceived as having no supporters to play in front of..Never. My love for North is the fact we are a small club. We scrap and fight and get the leftovers, fine.
I never want to be Man. City, Real Madrid, Collingwood or the Yankees.

Some shallow kids might want the "glamour" of a big club. Guys with a bit more depth can see past that stuff. And some guys - maybe like Marley and Dusty - might get tired of the constant attention and prefer to dial it down a bit.The small club vs the big club thing I guess.
