Is he any chance of playing TAC over the next couple of years?

Yes.

He played rep footy for YJFL and that's where he copped his head knock. He's a very hard at it good player, but he's still a baby and needs to grow and fill out. One to watch though, I'd reckon.

Thanks. One to watch then.

I don't believe Hutchy's hype on today's Herald-Sun, but does anyone know Dylan Buckley height?

I'm expecting another Luke Blackwell.

Carlton needs another midfielder.

Listed in the Vic Metro squad as 177cm...and 61kgs.

:thumbsu:

Buckley should grow to key position height by the time he's eligible to be drafted and be our next tall forward...
I doubt he will grow 15+ cms in the next two years.

Jesus!

That's not small for 15 years old

I thought they said he was small.
I would expect he will end up low 180's. Which is a small in the AFL

177cms (5'10") at 15 years old?

He'd be fair whack over six foot by the time he reaches 20 odd surely.

Those number cant be right... his old man wasnt that tall from memory.

Not short but must be thin as rake.
Buckley is 177 cms and 61 kgs at 15 or 16 years old.

Nahas isn't a lot heavier than that at 22 years of age. ;)

DB is said to have pace, poise and some mongrel, so he might be more like Brent Harvey than Luke Blackwell if he's a lightweight.

Worst case scenario might be Brett Backwell if we draft him. :D

Bring back the mosquito fleet...

Is that why SOS wanted to be a ruck rover like his old man? ;)

A shame SOS grew to 194 cms. :( :D

he could grow a bit... my mum was 5 foot 5 and my dad 5 foot 8 and both my brother and i are 6 foot 3... if he gets around the 187cm range he will be a good size for a midfielder...

I truly hope not Blackwell was a VFL player at best.I'm hoping he is a 150-250 game player.

I was being facetious.

I'm not saying Dylan will grow, but Simon White and Jake Carlisle grew 15 to 22 cms in one year and became KPPs.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I figured I would just bump this one.

We all know the GWS has the chance to recruit Dylan Buckley as a 17 yr old, but Carlton said they would commit to taking him as a f/s selection, preventing the GWS from doing this.

Now the question is exactly HOW committed are Carlton to taking him? He hasn't played in the Championships this year due to injury and has barely played in the TAC cup. It is unlikely he would be taken in the 1st rd under these circumstances in a normal draft year (much like Bartlett dropped out of the 1st rd in 2009 due to injuries) so if another clubs decides to play hard ball and bid their 1st rd pick will the CFC be obliged to match it? And how would the AFL react if Carlton said "Nope, under the circumstances we feel he is worth a 2nd rd pick, so you can have him"? Would they crack it as we prevented him from going to the GWS, or will they evaluate what a fair bid for Duckley would be and only expect Carlton to offer that?

I know we had to commit to him early (due to special circumstances with the new expansion teams), I just think it would be wrong be to forced to pay over his actual value because of it.

You've commited to taking him, but all that does is to put him into the F/S bidding process at the start of trade week.

Once there, it's up to your club and the others to determine his value. If nobody else bids, then you only have to give up your last "live" selection in the ND. If someone else does bid, then you have to give up your 1st selection after the one that was bid. If your club decides that he's not worth the cost, then he goes to the other club and you're off the hook.

Can't see that happening. Carlton and the Swans will be using there first picks on F/S's IMO.

Haven't really been following his TAC Cup this year, but I noticed he didn't play the U18 Championships, what's the talk of what pick we may have to use? Wouldn't really want to use our first pick, hopefully we can hold on to that for a possible big name trade, or at least a young KPP

2nd. pick should see us through.
A third would also not be completely out of the question.
