Giants will take first round picks because it will allow them to trade for mature needs. They could potentially have 4-5 picks in the top 20. Like mentioned before, they don't need the picks directly, but could be used to trade for a ruck or key back. Doesn't matter if they pay overs.

... Dylan and young Miss Willams are very fond of each other.

He is fond of Mark Williams' daughter? Can't fault the lad's courage! :p

If you say Adams has approximately equal value to Shaw, then the trade you are suggesting is Shiel +20 for 10+11.. so one of the best young midfielders in the game for pick 10 plus 9 spots downgraded?

Heavily Collingwood favoured

I think it is fair. Particularly as I said with some further swapping of later picks to improve the situation for Gws ie our second being 27 (or wherever it would be) for Gws' third 35.

Or if that wasn't fair a complete inclusion of 27.

Dylan Shiel is a #1 overall type talent, don't underrate him just cause he was a predraft concession

Great player, great talent, but he will expensive

Yes, I don't disagree that the talk pre commencement of Gws all surrounded the fact that he theoretically represented close to pick 1 value and what a coup they managed to pull off getting him as a concession pick. However based on exposed form I'm not sure that has been justified.

Obviously it is early and he may still develop into such plaudits, but at the moment I think both him and Adams are similarly comparable. Shiel would only be marginally ahead.

So effectively it would be;
Adams for 11 (slight unders)
Shiel for 10 (slightly more unders)
Shaw for 20 (slight unders. Particularly as it would be later than 20, post other probable compo picks ie Hawks buddy pick)
A swap of 27 for 35 (Or a complete inclusion of 27, in order to balance it out)

Wow, he was one of the few players on that list I thought were "untouchable". Would take a big trade to prize him away, but that said I don't think many other teams would be in a better position to us with pick 10 + 11 and Heath Shaw on the table.

Obviously they want experience...so Heath SHaw comes to mind, and then the pick 10 + 11 could be used to trade for some experience. They would still also have pick 1 and pick 9. Could really set themselves up for an assault.

If Shaw + 10 + 11 got us Adams and Sheil I would jump at it. These 2 are guns.

However I don't think that will get it across the line.

So we are probably better to just orchestrate a trade of Shaw for Adams, and utilise our picks well.

Those suggesting his form hasn't warranted pick 1 I think are a bit incorrect.

I thought he was very consistent this year. In his first year, he was good, but we have to remember he played no pre-season games at all.

He was rated so highly that he played in round one even though he played no NAB cup and hadn't trained much.

This season he has probably been their most consistent mid along with Ward. He is big, strong and has good footskills, even though that side of his game has probably not shone through as yet. Good pace, can break a line and runs ultra hard.

He will be expensive.

No doubt he'll be expensive.

But we'll have to agree to disagree about him warranting pick 1 value.

In fact, IMO the below shows that Shiel and Adams at this point in time are particularly comparable.

Shaw, pick 11 and Blair for the two of them.

Two mature bodies and a pick they can on trade for another good one.

I reckon GWS will be desperate to become competitive to stop the bleeding of young talent, make them more attractive for star players and to appease their AFL masters who will be hurting over their pathetic performances.

Would love have to Shiel here, even more so than Adams.

I'd love both here, but if i had to choose to go after one, im going for Shiel.

In the stats for 2013, Adams performs better in nearly every indicator....

The GWS midfielder has reportedly requested a trade back to Victoria. I have had my eye on this guy from his first or second game and was hopeful that he would eventually wish to return home. It is obvious that he is a real talent and I would love to see him at the pies next year.

Best case senario would be both Shiel and Adams to the club. Potentially package up Shaw and DT compo pick 11 for them both?

Would love for this to happen. Thoughts?

Can you tell us where this was reported? I could say Gary Ablett reportedly requested a trade and send this forum into a frenzy. Without a source, it has no credibility.

Sheil wants a trade to Carlton according to another board (so take it with a grain of salt).

Seeing / hearing it everywhere mate, saw it on the GWS board last night, saw it all over social media this morning and it was mentioned on SEN today. I think that is enough to start a thread amongst fellow Collingwood supporters regarding a potential player acquisition. Im not really too concerned whether you think it is credible or not.

That is all that needs to be said instead of "I heard whispers" or "I have got inside source". I just think if people are going to put something out there, the least they can do is give us an idea of where they got it from. And I'm not concerned about your lack of concern.

Shiel would have a lot more metres gained then Adams. Hes a much more outside player. Big kick, excellent acceleration, good sized body but not tall, about 180cm. Im no expert on him, but I would think he could play half back, outside mid or forward flank. Hes one of those players that looks amazing because of his speed and big boot. Hopefully there's more to him then just that.
