How is "come home to Adelaide" working out for Jackson Hately so far...? Family in Mildura so really even if he's homesick going to Melbourne or Adelaide not going to do him much good. I reckon he will stay with the Swans.

True, every player is the same so it really does make sense to compare him to Hately.

Yeah, the Crows late 2nd would be the absolute best they could expect.

Another Hateley "coming home" type.

We need to go after proven performers like Maynard, not fringe players, we've got half a squad of those now without adding more

It's hardly unusual for a 20 year old to struggle to break into a very strong, top 8 midfield. By all accounts Stephens is a far better prospect than Hately (Who for the record I haven't totally written off yet). He has pace, he has skill, can kick goals.

Was taken pick 4 for a reason and would be a better prospect than whoever we'd get around pick 35 odd in a supposedly weaker draft. If we only end up making 3 list changes, I'd take a top 5 pick, a pick in the early 20s and Stephens over an extra 2nd rounder any day.

There is some talk about Dylan Stephens from the Swans.

Meanwhile, former No. 5 draft pick Dylan Stephens wants to stay at the club but is desperate for senior opportunities and will move if it becomes apparent there are openings elsewhere.

Rival clubs believe he is genuinely gettable and will offer more than the two year-contract, which is currently on the table from Sydney.

Several clubs have privately expressed concern regarding a warped landscape for high draft picks entering their third season.

GWS was frustrated to lose Jye Caldwell after just 11 games and the Swans are unlikely to be able to match offers for Stephens.

Interesting to speculate on his trade value.

Its actually a tough one to measure!! Id say maybe a mid first rounder being so young

I reckon if he went through PSD we’d be more than happy to pounce on him

Ah the old "if he goes to PSD, we'll jump" threat. One of bigfooty most endearing fantasies.

Should Stephens decide to leave Sydney for Adelaide and trade negotiations break down, he'll either be a Crow through PSD or a Swan.

People do realise the kid is not South Australian right?

He’s from the Mildura area (Red Cliffs) and just did most of his high schooling at boarding school in SA.

Yeah, same happened with Martin to the blues from the suns..

Melbourne had the chance to “jump”.. they had a pick before carlton..

They even rang up Martin’s manager and asked if he would be keen to come over to the dees and they were kindly told no..

Once a player commits to another team.. they nearly always get there..

Stephens also revealed he has been in regular contact with Adelaide.

“I’ve spoken to them (Adelaide) a fair bit throughout the year,” he said.

“Pick No.4 is pretty early and there’s a lot of good players in the pointy end of the draft. I’d love to go to the Crows and I’d love to stay here (in Adelaide), but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”

Stephens spent his final two years of high school in SA, which are pretty formative years. He'd have a bunch of mates there.
