....Who the hell goddamn cares about being able to walk around your car?
What the shit?
Did you get what that was at all? I had no clue. Was it a game? Was it an addition? Very strange, they seemed to come out and show it but give us no actual info on WHAT IT WILL BE!
Reckon Kinect would have worked pretty well with Heavy Rain, that's about it.
I don't even know if it would've even worked with that. The Star Wars game has potential, although it looked very...old? It doesn't look anywhere near as polished as something like The Force Unleashed for example. Plus it seemed to have a Clone Wars (the animation) feel to it. And let's face it, while the dashboard stuff was pretty nice, you ain't buying Kinect for that.

Overall impressions...

Wow, very underwhelming show. Gears looks good, as does Black Ops. Rising had barely anything shown. Fable was too hard to hear so no idea what that's about. Halo Reach looked average (I'm sure the MP would be fantastic though). Crytek exclusive could be genuinely good, but who knows. Star Wars Kinect game is quite simply the ONLY thing to look forward to in regards to Kinect, all the other stuff was terrible and REALLY BAD! New XBOX 360 Slim coming this week with 250GB Hard Drive and Wi-Fi (to catch up to the competition).

No announcement on how much Kinect would be though, which is interesting. Looks now that it will be a big price.

Very poor show overall. Would give it around about a 5/10 (and quite honestly, that is reaching for it, the Kinect stuff was truly deplorable and I hope to wipe it from my memory forever).

Really quite a poor show.
So much of it left you with a '...meh' sorta feel.
Definitely. It felt very rushed apart from the Kinect stuff too, which is the part that they should've rushed through...Was very confusing overall too. I mean, why was Kojima basically shoved off stage for some other guy who spoke da Engrish just as poorly? Kojima IS MGS, so why not just have him spit out a few more bits of Engrish and then show the footage. There was no purpose for the other guy to come out on stage, NONE! I couldn't understand Kojima and I couldn't understand the other guy.

Also I just did not get the Forza presentation. Surely nobody gives a shit about being able to look at a car like that? Show off the friggen racing using only your hands as the wheel FFS, that's what people would want to see!

And not only did Kinect not get a bundle, but it didn't get a price either. Which as I said in my impressions leads me to believe that the price isn't going to be cheap and they'd rather let the hype train do the talk before dropping the price bomb. Again another confusing aspect.

There was no real BIG announcement either. The Crytek game would be considered a great announcement if Crytek had a great history, but at the moment all they have is a brilliant looking game on the PC that was only considered so-so when it came down to the actual game part, Far Cry was considered pretty good but not a world beater. No doubt though that Codename: Kingdoms will at least look VERY good with the CryEngine 3. But yeah, where were the MEGATONS?!

I don't care about the Microsoft press but when will I hear about the supposed new DK game?

I don't care about the Microsoft press but when will I hear about the supposed new DK game?
IF it's to come it will be at Nintendo's presser tonight (tomorrow morning) at 2AM. Again, if you want to watch a stream G4TV will have it up on their website (g4tv.com)
so the free x360 slims are payment for the failed cultish brainwashing/mtv kinect du solei commercial the other day? :3
That and the pathetic stuff shown at their proper presser.

So EA have had their press conference (as said before, you will be able to watch it on G4TV as soon as they get it up in re-watchable form).

The best and most interesting stuff as follows:

  • Dead Space 2 got a release date. January 25th, 2011. Brand new footage set to debut at Sony's Press Conference.
  • Criterion Games (Burnout developer) announced Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Launching November 16, 18 and 19 2010 in US and Europe respectively for PC, PS3, XBOX 360 and Wii (Wii one being developed by Exient). Will stick to the typical police chase gameplay of previous Hot Pursuit titles.
  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is getting an expansion and it will be set in...Vietnam!!! Will be multiplayer centric though bringing 4 maps where you can play as the US Marines or North Vietnamese Army. Vietnam era weapons and vehicles will be included with Trophies and Achievements as well. Coming this summer.
  • Medal of Honor will be getting a beta. Will be released on June 21 for PS3, XBOX 360 and PC. Looking very good. Has a nice mix of BF:BC2 as well as the good parts of MW. Could be the title that really does take over CoD for good.
  • Bulletstorm (Epic Games developed FPS) will be released February 22, 2011 on PS3, XBOX 360 and PC.
  • Crysis 2 is set to use 3D.
  • EA to have a "Gun Club" program much like Rockstar's Social Club. Will allow you to unlock different stuff in games as well as get you access to beta's and DLC. The idea is that you buy an EA game and you will get acess to the stuff, starting with MoH's beta being a week earlier if you bought BF:BC2.
  • EA Sports Live Broadcast was announced. A bit of a complicated system to explain. You build your online persona (using your own GameFace) and put up real videos of yourself talking smack, then somehow you can get chosen to go head to head against someone and get your game broadcast around the world in front of thousands of people and have your game commented on by actual professional commentators.

Driver 5 FINALLY debuts. Will be set in San Francisco and will take off from where Driver 3 left. Set for a Spring (Aus Spring) 2010 release on PS3, 360, PC and Mac.

Will have all real cars (more than 100). Will also allow for First Person or Third Person driving and you will ONLY be in cars the whole time, no getting out (but you will have "powers" to switch which car you are in). Ubisoft are changing this up a fair bit, no idea what it's going to turn out like. 8 player multiplayer to be included.

Check out this vid from IGN as well which has an interview: http://au.ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/7...iver_spc_061010.html;jsessionid=aeenap4h44018

Driver 5 is a return to the simple days of the franchise… except that the main character is in a coma and all of this is happening in his head and you can spiritually leap into other bodies.

This game opens up a few months from where Driver 3 left off. If you need a refresher, that game ended with Tanner's archnemesis Jericho shooting him. When Driver 5 picks up, Tanner's in a coma, and that's where this game is going to take place – you're going to need to complete a ton of missions to help Tanner wake up and save the day.

Ubisoft's conference is about to start.

Will update again as it goes.:)

Well overall not a bad show at all. MUCH better than Microsoft's with some genuine announcements in there and some good showings of games. The start was weird and the end was weird. AC: B looks superb and doesn't seem to be a quick cash in. Shaun White looked alright, but I doubt I'll be getting it. Battle Tag made no sense, still really have no idea what it's about. Innergy was pretty sweet, you play by controlling your breathing and it apparently helps your body to relax. Then the Kinect stuff and I want to shoot myself again, if I never see Your Shape again I will die a VERY happy man, excruciating stuff. Ghost Recon looked very good. Driver looks interesting but I have no idea where they're taking it. Rayman is back, Project Dust looked original.

So not bad, not superb. A solid 7.5/10. Good watching, marred by the shithouse Kinect stuff and some nonsensical stuff. But Ubisoft can certainly not be accused of being un-original as they have some very unique stuff in the offering.

  • Ok, so some guy is up on stage playing a game similar to Geometry Wars or something. Using Kinect it would seem. Very Strange. Very techno, very trippy. Nothing but this shown for nearing 5 minutes now. Finally ends, REZ and other titles creator comes out and announces Child of Eden for Kinect. None of the game makes any sense...
  • Slogan is "Games you can feel". Would seem Kinect is going to be at the front of much of this.
  • Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood trailer showing. Taking place in Rome in 1503. CGI trailer shown, looks like it will be co-op based on top of the already known multiplayer to be in (no confirmation of co-op though). November 16, 2010 release date. Starting the gameplay off by showing your villa from AC2 being attacked. Very epic start, devs saying they want to explore the Horses in the game more by having combat from the horse being fully usable by the end of the game. Cannon shooting section. Gameplay (and graphics) much the same as well as regular combat, although combo's are being used more (they say that the AI is "way more agressive", but still only 1 enemy attacking at a time with occasionally another lunging in). Ezio shot right at the end. Then shows off a Colosseum in Rome 1503 with Ezio standing over it. Looks absolutely fantastic I have to say. (Shown on PS3)
  • Shaun White Skateboarding being shown off now. Shaun White on stage, GO THE RANGERS! Man, his hair is of Lingy proportions. So epic! The game will be touting "transformable environments" as you go along and do tricks a bland world is transferred into a virtual skatepark with colour and life. You can also shape environments to your liking 'on the fly'. The guy does a full grind around a fountain and the fountain goes from filled with water to an empty bowl to skate in. You re-look over the city that was full of greys and blacks and it is filled with colour, light and new places to skate. Not a bad demo, looks like it'll be very reactionary in how you play, some weird things in there in terms of the transformable environments. Very unique take on the skateboarding genre. (Shown on PS3)
  • Ok, now people are running across the stage and crowd playing a laser tag like game......which it turns out is a real game of laser tag called "Battle Tag". The host comes out with 2 great lines asking "is it safe?" the producer of the game says "yes completely" host says "what if I pistol whip somebody?":D. The the producer says "yes it's very fun I played a deathmatch with my kids this morning" and the host says "Great, you played a DEATHMATCH with your kids, good family fun":D. The explanation of this game makes ZERO sense. Some sort of real life, game hybrid type of system. Consists of rubbing some cartridges and shooting at something...I still have ZERO idea wtf this is supposed to be. It would appear to be a laser tag game that just records all the info to your PC. And it's not going to be on any system like PS3 or 360.
  • New game called Innergy. A guy with LITERAL red hair comes up to talk about it (I'm not talking "strawberry blonde" but RED!). A vitality like sensor callled the Innergy Sensor (much like that of Nintendo's to be revealed tonight) is what you put on your finger and a character is guided through a human system (up and down tubes) by your breathing which relates to your heartbeat. The game is supposed to be very relaxing. RED head guy saying that this will help give your body a boost from just a 10 minute session.
  • New Kinect game. 3 sports shown in Soccer, Skiing and NFL. Terrible ad, shockingly acted, I want to kill myself.
  • And ****. Now we get more FANTASTIC YOUR SHAPE FOOTAGE! WOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's the exact same ****en thing as Microsoft's. KILL ME NOW! Oh wow, terrific banter here between presenter and other presenter. Game recognises here as being 5'6" and the trainer guy goes "5'6", backstage you told me you were 5'9"" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA....kill me.:( Apparently in the XBOX 360 presentation she was registered as 5'8"...so WTF IS IT?! The host actually coming out with some genuine comedy "It's good there's no creepy guy lurking in the background like at most gyms".:thumbsu:
  • Ravin' Rabbits being shown now. Shown to be going back to pre-historic times by using a time travelling washing machine. Now in Aztec times. Now showing Excalibur times. Game will be Ravin' Rabbits: Travel in Time, available for the Wii, November 9 2010.
  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier up now. Short trailer shows off new gadgets and weaponry in a Star Wars looking environment. Saying that they've been conferring with military to find out what new tech is coming out in the future to put in their game. In-Game footage now. Showing a very post-apocalyptic world, starting with being on a beachside area with crumbled buildings, etc. Very stealth gameplay so far using invisible suits. CQC being a big part of game. Guy goes through and takes out a target. Then it cuts to a guy in a building with the dev saying that different perspectives of the battlefield will take place throughout the game. Full on action gameplay showing cover to cover. 4 player full campaign co-op. 3D as well. (Shown on 360)
  • Driver: San Francisco now. CGI trailer showing shifting between vehicles chasing the villain (Jericho from 2 and 3) across the San Francisco bridge (does that have a name?), ends with Tanner (main character from 1, 2 and 3) driving head on to stop Jericho who is in a armoured truck. Gameplay footage now (the same stuff that IGN showed in their interview). 208 miles of road throughout the city. Multiplayer will have the shifting ability.
  • 3 new titles to be shown now (seem to be download only titles).
  • Project Dust shows a tribe who have these magical abilities that harness the environment. You have to do something to harness them or the world ends and turns to DUST (WHAT A PUN!). PSN and XBL game.
  • It's Rayman!!! He's back! Got a very unique artistic style. Will be called Rayman Originals.
  • Now sounds like a LittleBigPlanet rip off. Called ManiaPlanet (only for PC). Will have creation techniques to help create FPS's (Shootmania), RPG's (Questmania) or Racing game's (Trackmania) and upload them to the world (nice graphical capabilities).
  • Michael Jackson game now. Dance off on stage right now...and that's it...nothing about it being a game or anything, strange way to end it.
  • ALL OVER.

Nice work HBK, love the special comments!:thumbsu:

Thanks dude. It's actually fun writing all this stuff down too surprisingly. Will be doing Nintendo's and Sony's as well (and Konami's if I can be stuffed staying/waking up at 6am on Thursday for it. I do want to see Saw 2, so I might). So be prepared for more epic posts.:D
Innergy Sensor o.O;

did Ubisoft just FHUTA nintendo?

*goes cries in the corner*
HAHAHAHAHAHA it does look interesting indeed. It has a far more practical use than Nintendo's as well, in that it actually relates to a game in a really unique way. I don't really understand Nintendo holding off for a full year on the Vitality sensor, is it really such a big deal to only have it at E3 twice? Will be interesting to see what they bring up tonight in terms of the Vitality sensor and how it's gonna be used.

The San Fran bridge is called the Golden Gate Bridge HBK

Just watched the 360 presser (i IQ'd it) and am off sick today, so got to see it now, as opposed to tonight. Very average. Agree with all comments so far.

Black Ops certainly looks tasty

In more disappointing news. Rare, one of the best developers of years past have been relegated to making the Sports mini-games for Kinect Sports (which has 150ms of lag compared to Move's 22ms on top of your TV's ms lag).

Source: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=250880
What the **** is Microsoft's issue with giving Rare a title that will send them back to the olden days of their brilliant titles like Donkey Kong, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc.?? They are slowly killing Rare and it's brutal to see. Maybe Bungie going multiplat and not doing Halo anymore will kick Microsoft into action and give Rare the chance to create a new IP to rule the world again?

On the other side of all things motion. IGN have given Move a glowing review for their 2 hour preview time on it.

This is going to be like mouse vs controller. If your going to want to compete in an fps online, your going to need to buy this thing.

Microsoft's conference is about to start. Will update as it goes...

[*]Kinect release date November 4. 15 launch titles.

[*]XBOX Slim announced. 250GB, built in Wi-Fi (FINALLY!). Costs the same as one of the models I guess? (he said it would cost the same, but I didn't hear or know if he said which one) Releasing this week. Buying off the crowd by giving everyone the console, wait for the glowing reviews to come in now...
[*]ALL OVER
[/LIST]

Kinect release date is for the Northern America region.

Will be closer to Christmas here

And i posted this regarding the Slim 360's pricing in the 360 news:

With the news of the slim 360, from tomorrow (Wednesday) you will be able to pick up a 120GB Elite with 4 games for $299

Same price as a Wii. Pretty frickin cheap

Means the slim will retail for $399 when its released here

EB tweeted that it would be $449

Michael Jackson game now. Dance off on stage right now...and that's it...nothing about it being a game or anything, strange way to end it.
Searched it, it's a game for Kinect.

http://www.michaeljackson.com/us/news/ubisoft-announces-michael-jackson-video-game

As much as I like Michael Jackson, I am really hating this Kinect crap, So I shall have to wait and see if I would give it a go.

No news on a new Rainbow either, perhaps Ubi have scrapped the Rainbow Six series for now.
