Also they dedicate too much time to Arkham City, which is basically anytime, but they give it a good 5 minutes. Would be great if, you know, the game wasn't out 8 months earlier.

OK first of all, you can't dedicate too much time to Arkham City

and second of all, we spent 13 minutes yesterday morning WATCHING ****ING WONDERBOOK

EA's Main showings.

Yeah, I know, Wonderbook was fantastic.:)

And you can dedicate too much time to AC when it's the exact same stuff that everyone has played before only with that stuff taken to the tablet and not you know, pushing buttons.

So a of a rundown from me from what I have seen.

EA have ruined 2 franchises, at the very least.

Maybe NFS hasn't been 'ruined', but they've ruined the developer that's for sure. For some reason they've got Criterion working on Most Wanted using the Frostbite 2 engine. This is absolutely mind boggling. Criterion's Burnout/Hot Pursuit engine was brilliant, it ran smoothly and the colours were outstanding. Now the game looks metallic and has lens flare just ruining your vision every second time you turn a corner. EA putting Criterion on another NFS was already a downer for me, getting them doing it with the Frostbite 2 is the bigger downer though.

Dead Space 3 is the next. I can understand making the game a little more action-y. But introducing co-op and seemingly taking out any element of lone horror...why would you go against everything the series has had going for it previously? Based on the gameplay footage as well, I don't quite understand how the ending of that part will go. What happens to your partner in the story there? Unless that character is permanently there (which could be) then I don't understand it. But then if your partner is there for the whole game, well there goes any real frights. :(

Splinter Cell next up from Ubisoft. Another ruined franchise. While I've never been hugely into Splinter Cell, I've probably played more than my mind remembers. After the gameplay footage was shown, this is not Splinter Cell at all. Not only is Michael Ironside gone (still going to be narrator I believe). But the gameplay semblance from what the series was built on has been completely withered away. This is a pure action game now. No more is it waiting 5 minutes until a guy walks past then slinking past him. Although kudos to the best use of Voice Command 'HEY YOU!'.

After that negativity, most of the showings from the respective parties for me at least, were very decent. Yes there weren't any huge megaton announcements. But it's not what E3 is about anymore, even Quantic Dream's title was leaked hours before it was shown.

On Quantic Dream's title. Beyond is looking good. Graphically, vastly improved from Heavy Rain and the lip syncing is next to perfect. Ellen Page is a big get too, generally not something you see in gaming these days, getting a star in their prime to devote full time to mo-cap their entire performance into a game. Very excited to see what Cage has learnt from Heavy Rain and apply it to Beyond.

The Last of Us is fulfilling many people's dreams of a brutal game with frantic yet meaningful gunplay/combat. Graphically one of the most outstanding games I've ever seen too, just the little touches in every part of the environment and on the characters is what Naughty Dog do so damn well and they certainly haven't stopped here. They still have potentially another year to work on this game, the possibilities of what they could do are mind blowing.

God of War looked like a God of War title. To be expected. Although there's some slight changes. The new magic stasis type ability for Kratos, lends itself to some interesting potential gameplay in the puzzle/slower moments that God of War always has. And even though it was extremely subtle, Kratos did save someone's life in the playthrough. So that's a HUGE change. Another game that looks great graphically. And a release of March 2013, so it's not that far off.

Assassin's Creed 3 looked good. Despite what I wanted, it looked damn good. Again another graphically impressive game. The whole ship sequence, although very different to what I was expecting, looked really great in every way. Maybe went a tad too long, but if that diverges the gameplay from the usual jumping around stabbing necks then I won't be unhappy.

Watch Dogs. I have to watch this again I think, as similar to Igloo I wasn't all that impressed. To be fair I was only watching on and off and not really paying full attention. But it looked a little linear and all too 'everything just happened exactly how you would expect if I was scripting this'. I have to wonder how that crash at the intersection plays out if you miss time it or just miss it completely. It's the possibilities of non-linearity that get me excited about the concept for sure.

Rayman Legends is the most impressive thing on the Wii U right now. But how much is completely new gameplay? The last section of the playthrough has the guy say 'this is our new map' so does that mean all that other stuff was re-hashed Origins stuff? I don't think there was a clear answer unless you've played through Origins, but if it's re-hashed then the game looks less impressive. Even though that new map was outstanding, if you can only beat it like that in co-op then again, less impressive.

Far Cry 3 is looking really good. I am absolutely loving the trippy element to it, going to play into some really good cutscenes I feel. You'll notice I left that out of the re-cap video's, because there was a fair bit of nudity so the underage kiddies on here would have their minds warped if they saw it (and would obviously want to go to a remote island and start banging babes there, NO! NO! NO!). But it's well worth watching the E3 playthrough (not the co-op one though, that was considerably less good). Must say though, the main characters voice is absolutely deplorable. Could really do with a change up there, he just sounds like a huge douche that nobody would like. Maybe that's the point though?! And Vaas/Vass is the real hero?!!!

That's it for my huge rundown for now. I still have several videos to watch and haven't really watched all of Ubisoft or EA's Conferences either.

Why are people expecting so much at launch for the Wii U, I honestly cant remember, what was 360s and PS3s launch like?

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_launch
Cant say I've played many of those games, but were they really that great? Doesnt look like anything special (again havent really played many)

PS3 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3_launch

Again nothing that special.

So why are people expecting Zelda, SSB, Mario and all those games to be available, doesnt make much sense to be honest.

At a guess it's more about Nintendos past rather than that of their competitors. For example Twilight Princess was available at release for Wii, Smash Bros for Gamecube and MarioKart for 64. Ninendo have a history of releasing one of their big titles alongside the new console and I guess there is an expectation that it will happen again.

Thats fair enough I guess, but this time we have good third party support, a bunch of third party games and Pikmin 3 is good enough for me. Besides I'd rather them work hard on the console and the games come after, I am sure by half way through next year we will have plenty of great games (like the 3DS)

Just finished watching all the press conferences. Without having read any posts in this thread, while owning all 3 current-gen consoles and not being a "fanboy" of any of them, I gotta say Sony's press conference was easily the best for mine.

Nintendo would be next, it was pretty cool, followed by Microsoft's snooze fest.

I also enjoyed EA's conference.

Looking forward to Beyond and The last Of Us the most.

FWIW, Wonderbook looks pretty cool for the younger audience, but really, how many kids that age own the PS3, which is the most expensive console on the market? I may be wrong, but I'd have thought not many.

I agree completely, plenty of third party games. No point rushing others to make them available at the same time, would much prefer the extra time working on it. Was merely pointing out why there was an expectation on Nintendo to provide the 'big' games upon release.

Watched the Nintendo conference last night. The bloke talking about the multiplayer game with the ghosts + Nintendoland just about put me to sleep.

Yeah thats cool I wasnt having a go at you or anything, just people in general haha.

I cant believe people were expecting Zelda though, like seriously the last one just came out and its good that they will take their time to make it look awesome, I must it admit it would have been awesome though!

Also people complaining about the graphics, the first 360 and PS3 games didnt look that special and xbox/ps2 to Ps3/360 was a much bigger jump than we will see this gen, wait a few years before you criticize graphics at least.

To be fair though, Nintendo's fault with that. Don't show a Zelda tech demo if there isn't anything coming out. Can't help if people were expecting something after they showed the game off at last years E3.

Where's this? I must say that there seems to be a lack of visual polish to a lot of the games compared to what's on the PS3/360. Rayman Legends looked a little less visually perfect than Origins. And Pikmin was very downloadable title looking. Didn't seem to be much done to Super Mario Bros. U...especially when they showed off the 3DS version about 10 minutes later and it looked almost on par visually.

With all the pump up of 'way better tech' than PS3/360, I think people are just expecting something more than what's been shown.

As a 360 fan, very disappointing E3

Started well with Halo, then a bunch of features i dont want

In the unlikely event NBA makes it here; that would be great though

I agree to an extent with the Zelda thing, but as you've stated, thats only a tech demo, a demo to show off the graphics capabilities of the system, nothing to do with a full game.

I was never really expecting to see much of an update on nintendos games graphics other than Metroid/Zelda type games, really how much better can a cartoon type game get? I think when we see proper third party games come out for the Wii U, ones that have been developed from scratch not ports we will see the full capabilities come out. The Wii U sort of first got announced at an awkward time because a lot of the BIG third party games were already too far into the development cycle to start on a new system, which is unfortunate but thats just the way it goes.

Next year I think we will really see the Wii U shine compared to the last gen consoles, IMO.

That is exactly the point where I turned it off and went to sleep.

Pikmin 3 looks like more Pikmin which is great. Really enjoyed The Last of Us's very visceral and brutal violence. Like Uncharted just with more killing. All this and the infected people haven't even been properly shown yet. Graphically Beyond looked amazing, some of the close-ups were a hair's breadth away from looking quite literally real.

Well my take is Ubisoft killed it with there presser, best of the show for me (not because of the knobs hosting but the games shown)
FC3 gets better everytime you see it. Also looks like there will be a lot to explore.

Splinter Cell Blacklist - Even though they may have changed the pace of the game it still looked ****in good. Also coming to ps3 :)

Liked the trailer for Zombie U, it wont make me buy a WiiU though.

The A/C 3 trailer made my winkey dinkey tingle a little. Well a lot actually.

The new ip Watch Dogs looked very interesting, i will be keeping a close eye on that baby

Thought EA and Microsoft's were as booring as batshit.
Only thing i got out of them is MoH is coming along nicely and COD looks so outdated it's not funny.

On to Sony

Beyond looks good, really looking forward to some gameplay for this one.

The Last Of Us - OH **** YEA, enough said.
