Have searched for a topic about it couldn't find one if there is one I'm sorry for making this but anyway.

Very excited for this game, ufc undisputed 2010 is terrible didn't buy it but have played it and its shithouse, going by this gameplay it looks far more superior and well put together here are some vids

Demo out September 28 can't wait, also the game will have gameface so expect people to make ufc fighters so you can put them in the game :)

Yep, really keen for this. Can't wait for the demo. The UFC games are ok but are very arcady. This looks to have some serious depth to it. The only thing I have seen that I don't like are the crappy xray shots when securing a sub. If you could turn that off in the options then I definitely would.

I like the xray shots when attempting a sub I think its a nice touch to the game also might show people who aren't that educated in mixed martial arts what actually is going on

Honestly doesn't look any better than the UFC game, subs look even worse (button mashing FTL.) The striking looks sluggish as well.
I'll stick with 2010 unless this one surprises.

HAHA you obviously haven't seen or heard much about it then.

Its made pretty clear that if you button mash you will lose. UFC games are extremely button mashy - except for subs replace button mashing with spinning circles.

IMO the only way they will get an MMA game to everybodys likings is to introduce sliders to adjust how easy/hard it is to KO/Submit

I have pre ordered this game from Play Asia, I'm looking forward to it and there is no doubt that it will be the MMA game for true fans.

Yeah has been out for 2 days really enjoying it graphics look great and overall gameplay i feel is way better than undisputed

Just played the demo. Not entirely impressed, it is better in some areas (submissions, stand up less arcadey) while weaker in others (transitioning isn't as fluid, ground game less dynamic).

Overall feels like 1 step forward and two steps back.

EA Sports MMA

Edit: Mods, feel free to move this to the other thread on this game....my bad.

First up, this game is 10x better than the demo portrays.

Now I also own UFC Undisputed 2009 and 2010, and while more polished and probably visually appealing than EA's MMA, I have to say this game grew on me fast. Once you get used to the controls, which isn't hard to do perhaps apart from the Fight Night-like striking system (which is rather good), some of the fights you can have are simply awesome.

The stamina system is really good (especially with the meter turned off) and makes the pace of the fight flow really nicely - Say goodbye to button mashing cos there's no way it will work on this game. Submissions are very well done and require a great deal of skill and technique, in fact the whole ground game is quite good, you can really hold an opponent down from a dominant position and pound away for a whole round if your good enough.

Submissions can last and be a struggle for a fair while too, much like in real MMA. I had one guy in a RNC for 37 seconds before he finally tapped. Blood is very well implemented and it's not easy to cut your opponent. You have to hammer fist and elbow away for quite a while most of the time.

The scoring system seems good to me so far, and you'll find a few more fights actually ending up with a decision compared to UFC Undisputed. 5 minute rounds are actually 5 minute rounds, not sped up like Undisputed. The game just generally feels less 'arcadey' and more of a sim than Undisputed. Fighters are balanced well and it's near impossible to my knowledge to create a fighter who can be good at everything. Also, stats after each fight are pretty cool and extensive.

Career mode starts out way too easy for your first 5 or so fights, but after that it's a lot of fun and the activities you do between fights are rewarding and generally fun to do (apart from a few boring ones). You can even have a practice match before your fight against a sparring partner who will try to replicate your upcoming opponent. Oh, and multiplayer is completely lag free from what I've played and I can't say I've come across any successful spammers or generally annoying opponents. There's a fair few different leagues you can fight in with wrestling rings and cages, as well as different sets of rules you can fight under (1 x 20 minute round, elbows/knees/kicks to grounded opponent's head)

Now onto a few negatives, though I can't find many after giving the game a real go and getting used to it more. The presentation/graphics aren't the best by a long shot, and obviously the roster is no where near as good as Undisputed, though there are a few familiar names in Coture, Emelianenko, Nick Diaz, Sapp, Lashley, Randleman, Rutten, Shamrock and a few more. Loading times can be a real b*tch, up to probably 45-60 seconds sometimes.

Anyway, after initially being disappointed with the demo, and now having played the full version for a fair while, I highly recommend this game to any MMA fan. Not sure I wanna say it's better than Undisputed, but it certainly feels more realistic, and with a wicked career mode and lag-free online play, it's gotta be close. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Re: EA Sports MMA

I wasn't expecting the game to look that good, although it doesn't compare to the UFC franchise, it still looks like it will be a very good game which I wasn't expecting. Also, I was wondering who the commentators are in the game?

The only hitch that I can see EA hitting, is if UFC fans don't buy the game as a result of Dana White's comments about EA not wanting to do a game on MMA because they didn't see it as a 'real' sport, once UFC undisputed came out their opinion changed. The UFC fans would be a large portion of the market.

Got the Game Yesterday had a quick go about 6 fights on single player and i just couldn't work out how the hell you play this . UFC kills this game (in single play at lest more easy in fights) have no idea how to strike and what not , most of my fights end up on the ground and it was just poor. hardly no stand and punch one fight i had 8 stikes in the 3 rounds.

Game rating id give 2/10 POOR (based on Single player)

So you generally have no idea how to play the game, yet you call the game poor and proceed to rate it a 2/10. MMA 101 mate.

Great game (from someone who knows the controls )

I started a new thread on this game with my thoughts on it here (I did a search for this game but typed in 'MMA' so this thread didn't show up)

Apparently MMA 101 is quite shit and the easiest way to learn is through either watching others spar and through the career mode in the activities and stuff there?

Anyway, I'm not going to buy the game and my interest in MMA/UFC is very low but this is absolutely awesome to watch as a game.

GiantBomb had a QuickLook put up a week or so ago and just yesterday they did a full live broadcast of a card where one of their staff fought against others and they came up with some crazy good fighter that nobody else could beat. It was absolutely awesome to watch it at play.

Unfortunately I came into the broadcast right at the tailend of the show but got to see 3 fights and they were so good that you would swear they were actually real. Even though it'd be frustrating as hell for me to play I was loving how there was so much ground combat and it wasn't all punch-to-punch gameplay that I know in UFC. Also the real nuances in the ground grappling and seeing the fighters physically struggling to get out with so many different and realistic movements.

Anyway the last fight of the card was Jeff Gerstman as himself using the GameFace (which looks amazing too) against the best fighter of the entire card. Was a great fight with Jeff basically being overwhelmed with the other fighter getting him grounded a lot and putting on the one submission, somehow Jeff was able to fight out of it time and time again. He finally gets out of a submission and they get up to their feet, only 10 seconds to go and BAM this other guy sends a massive kick to the side of Jeff's face and he's groggy, 2 kicks later and the fight is over...with 2 seconds to go in the round.:o

Dunno if they have the entire show they did on the site or not but it was done over Justin.tv through GiantBomb's site too. Worth a watch if into MMA at all (if it's there/somewhere of which I have no idea).

The whole Online broadcast is a fantastic feature and something I hope EA Sports start putting into all their games, nearly makes this game worth the buy for that alone.

MMA 101 is all right and should teach you the core basics (it did for me anyway) but your right, there's a few important things it doesn't teach you.

Agree with everything else you said. It's very realistic and I can't wait to check out the next online broadcast. Apparently it goes pretty in-depth, with titles and prizes etc. to be won.

The more I'm playing it the more I'm liking it. But as you say, you probably need to be into MMA or at least the UFC to enjoy this game.

lol thats why i stated that i had no idea how to play it thats why i was giving it a 2 from quick goes. im sure if i play it more it will go up in the rating.

Played the demo. UFC looks so much better. Flicking the analog sticks just doesn't work for a "hit" button. Didn't like it.

Only thing I did like is it was MUCH easier to get fools OFF you when they get you on the ground.
UFC always seemed much harder with it's wax on wax off controls for ground play. MMA you just had to press square or triangle.

Say wha..???!!! I reckon it's the complete opposite. With UFC your pretty much guaranteed to get up on your 3rd or 4th try and it's near impossible to keep someone on the ground for over a minute.

In this game you could keep them on the ground for the whole round if your good enough and save your stamina. If you punch conservatively, and just hit 'B' (X-Box) every time they try to escape, you can keep them down for ages. Of course, if your fighter isn't good at ground grappling and your opponent is, it will be a lot harder to do this.

Also, the demo doesn't do the game much justice. Like HBK619 said, it's better to learn all the moves and controls playing career mode doing sparring sessions and doing the training. MMA101 is ok, but it doesn't really cover ALL the basics.

After hearing some bad reviews of the demo I was so disappointed, but **** me this game is awesome. Fighter Share is a gem and the actual fights are much more entertaining than Undisputed. Obviously it is a bit light on in features, but it is a quality start.

Had an awesome fight against my mate under PRIDE rules. Accidentally made it Eddie Alvarez vs. Eddie Alvarez, but it was an absolute slugfest with both of us getting dropped a couple of times but not finished. I shot for a takedown at about 3:30 of the second round, he caught me in a guillotine and subbed me with about forty seconds to go. Epic.
