same with everything everywhere ..it is the vocal minority of whingers /losers/cocky winners / arrogant winners-losers .. that seems to try and dictate majority thoughts

simple poll on tonights game ..

There is no poll?

Best thing to do if you feel like debating the issue is to do so in one of the various threads that already exist, of which there are plenty.

Starting something like this not on the correct board can have the tendency to blow up in ones face, no malice intended.

yeah true .. I dunno .. the poll options arnt the best (I don't think) either, took me a while to cut each option back to 50 chars each!

Perhaps it wasn't the umpires bias so much as West Coast's borderline tactics employed by Hams & the Selwoods in particular. Some real throwing their heads back and into opposition players and dropping to the knees and sprawling forward when tackled. Really aggravating.

Two key decisions in the final quarter went against Hawthorn, both resulted in goals. The holding the ball decision against Osborne and Roughead being illegally manhandled by Naitanui which led to the Kerr goal.

Umpiring was terrible imo. Did it cost us the game? I don't know. Did it influence the game? Definitely.

The umpiring was a disgrace tonight. Heavily helping Hawthorn all evening. I was shocked we managed to get up in the end. Franklin's only goal, he pushed not one but two defenders square in the back. I thought Shuey deliberate was a joke, he kicked 50 meters whilst under pressure?? Hawthorn also threw the ball on 3 obvious occasions. Nothing done. The umps had a shocker.

I do understand your angle ..but ..wow ..I still can't believe the scoreline and the consistency of both! ..the game was there for the taking for both teams from the very first bounce to the end ..tis what it really comes down too. I really can't be bothered to analyse this game any more ..it was very strange and beyond the norm

There were a couple of howlers late but but up to half time we were commenting on how good the umpires were tbh.

That last ridiculous decision (two hawks with the hands on the ball) cost one more sortie forward. Unless you could guarantee a goal, it didn't cost the game.

Ultimately any team that kicked 5.16 and burnt that much ball in the third quarter can't blame the umpires for the result.

^ Still a bit bitter from when you came over to Perth last season?

Are you talking to me? I don't get it.

Traveling interstate practically all umpires get influenced by home crowds its the way it goes. Are you denying Selwood ducked his head repeatedly trying to draw frees?

Shit all night.

I thought the Lewis in the back against Naita in the dying seconds was horrendous. To my eye, holding the ball every day of the week.

I see you never mention Franklin's push in the back in the 3rd qtr and the Hawks first goal that was never a free kick as Mackenzie got all ball. Also the Kerr goal was actually a free to Naitanui for Roughead blocking Naitanui's run to the ball but it was paid advantage because Kerr goaled.

So West Coast have the crowd on our side interstate as well - where we also have a free kick advantage?

You've played GWS and the Bulldogs, you probably had the crowd advantage at those games anyway...:D

Its not law, and free kick counts don't have to go to a certain side to be favoured, but generally majority crowds influence the umpires. I think so far its pretty obvious that this year you have tactically worked on drawing the high tackle. It's smart, because the AFL clearly haven't worked out how to combat it, but definitely leaves a sour taste and seems outside the spirit of the game.

I'm not sure we tactically work on that at all. Individuals perhaps try and exploit it, but it's not a team directive.

I'm staggered no media attention has been raised at the number of slaps straight to the face WC copped on Sat night - Eric Mackenzie is 6 foot 5 and someone still managed to slap him in the face - sounds like the tackling technique is far worse than any manouevre.

Shit seating? I watched the game at home & clearly was in the back that why Lewis went face first..... :o
