I don’t care what people think about either statistics and/or how they are applied to Supercoach, the fact is if your supercoach score is on the downward spiral it is a good reflection on how you are travelling overall in the season. Some Eagles scores are flying while others are taking dives, there are even tentative signs of improvement from players whose start to the season was not all that flash. Below is a list of some of the big improvers this season and some of the underachievers.

And after the sorts of scores we achieved last year you would think the only way to go for most Eagles is up..

Dean Cox’s average is hovering around the 124 mark which translates to a slight drop in price of -$6,100. This is however negligible and he is a proven champion as well as a proven SC scorer. Another negligible one is Rosa’s price drop of $3,000 he has averaged a healthy 77 points but has broken the ton twice and could be one to get on as he starts to settle into the team and the season.

The real standouts this season have been A.Selwood and Shannon Hurn. Both have turned in around a $70,000 profit with an average of 109 and 83 respectively. Selwood has found another gear being released from his tagging role in games and Hurn has had an injury free run into the main season allowing him to show us exactly what he is capable of without hindrance.

The rest of the improvers this season have only marginally increased their prices all though some of them may be increasing their outputs on last year others are just getting back in form from injuries/suspensions. Priddis, Wirrpanda, LeCras and Kerr have all increased their price from $15,000 to $40,000, Priddis and LeCras have both increased their output from 08 Priddis because he has not had to shoulder the No.1 tag and LeCras because of an injury free run coming into the season.

Wirrpanda has been settled into the role that suits him best as a running back man and Kerr has been able to get back to his damaging best keeping his head cool and basically raking up points from amazingly dominate 3rd quarters.

There are a few players in the red due to a lack of match fitness but are starting to come back with strong scores pushing their price and average back up to respectable levels. Embley, Glass and Hunter have all had slower starts to the season with a drop on average of $45,000 but have averaged between 70 and 100 over the past two games which is a marked improvement from an average of 50-55. Embley especially is one to jump on as he has shown he can average around the 90 point bracket in the past as well as cracking the ton on occasion.

The very average performances have come from players really struggling to get into games and from players who have lacked consistency so far this season. The furtherest Eagle to have fallen is Brett Jones, barely breaking over 50 points in most games and making many silly mistakes and clangers costing him many SC points, its hard to see how he will improve this year. Other poor performers are Lynch, Fletcher, Nicoski, Stinga, Hansen, Rosa and Staker. Lynch and Nico have at least had decent impacts in games and there fall has not wholly reflected their efforts during the season. The same cant be said for Stinga, Fletcher and Hansen who have all shown marked declines in output on the field and an average $40,000 price drop hovering around a 60ppg average. Inconsistency has dogged the next player in Staker having a standout performance of 116 points one week and 13 points the next, consistency is a SC players best friend and this is never going to be his strong point dropping $24,500 all ready with more falls to come.

Overall there are 14 Eagles with rather large price drops, 2 with negligible price drops and 7 with price increases, 5 have played that are yet to reach 3 games Butler being the most promising of the 5. I can see that figure rising to 11 Eagles with price rises over the next few games as people start to find form.

Didnt include Brown in the analysis.. should of though as he is the highest earning Eagle with an increase of $124,000. His scores are also slowly improving each week and is one to have slipped under the radar with the big names out there like Ziebell, Rich, Dangerfield ect.. Brown has an average of 57 and is still increasing in price with two games around the 80 mark. Its possible that he will finish the season averaging close to 70 a huge effort for a newbie and a finishing price around $370,000.
