Mills grew up in NSW. Definately eligible for Sydney.

The AFL Academy game on GF day will be a excellent way to get a look at the top kids for next year. Great innovation by the AFL I think.

Jacob Weitering from Dandenong will be the first key position player taken.

Good shout with Burton going down. At the moment I've got it as him against Schache with a few others chances to bolt. Lit it up in the champs game in Adelaide which most wouldn't have seen and that one game was enough to sell me on him. Seeing his results forward only strengthen his case. At only 16 (17 in late November) he's very bottom aged even in next year's crop so I'd be very surprised if he didn't have another inch or two in him too. Has so much going for him, really like him.

Him and Agius from SA are the two players I'm taking an early liking to and claiming as favourites. Class act.

Sam Weideman (spelt Same on MMS for some reason) is a KPF from Eastern Rangers from memory. Anyone know much about him ?

If we're talking about early favourites, Schache and Jeffs for mine. I haven't seen a whole lot of Jeffs, like I haven't seen a lot of quite a few of these bottom-age players, but what I have seen I have liked. Know another keen draft watcher who is a huge Weitering fan.

If the first round plus activated picks (no almonds) were done now, using the Round 23 2014 ladder, how would it work?

Exclude F/S picks for this exercise.
As in where would certain players fall? I don't think there are any compensation picks. No clubs banned from the draft as it is.
Of picks settled, IMO
STK - Parish
MELB - Mathieson
GWS - Mills (Swans tied)
BRIS - Keays (Academy anyway)
WB - Schache
CARL - Weitering
GCS - Dunkley (Swans tied)
COLL - Clarke
ADEL - Burton
WCE - Stewart
RICH - O'Kearney
ESS - Weideman

Cheers Rahul.

Can't wait for the phantom's and everything else.

Also, have you heard anything about Bewick and Daniher for next years draft?

Yep, shame all of those guys are so small as they are all talented.

I really, really like Vic Country's crop for 2015. Dunkley, Skinner, Jok, Collins, Weitering, Schache, Eades (moved from WA), Tucker, Mathieson, Parish and Curnow all prospects to watch.

Yestin Eades from Swannies?

Bewick had stress fractures in his back so has spent most of the year doing not a lot, but might get a gig with Calder next year and anything can happen from there.

Harvey Daniher played 1-2 games for Calder this year after also having a stress fracture, but will go around again next year and hopefully land a bigger role with Wright and Foster moving on. Harvey was 190cms when he was 16, so will likely end up genuine CHF size.

Tom Wallis (son of) is also available next year and it seems like he's the highest rated of the 3. They were apparently really keen to get him into the Vic metro side for the u16 champs but he got glandular and had to pull out. He's a 182cm mid, quick, left footer, and that's about all I know

I'd be surprised if Burton went first round, if at all. If he doesn't grow he's a 191cm key forward with a severely broken leg and torn knee ligaments. If he gets up to 193-194 there's a little less risk regarding him as a player so a club might show some faith. But the severity of his injury is gonna hurt him big time. All depends on the recovery.

Tucker?

In terms of the South Australians...

Luke Partington would be top of the list, and one of the top midfielders in the whole draft. Followed by small/medium defender Stephen Tahana, and I've been saying it for well over a year now but he is arguably the best defender I have seen come through the draft. There is very little he can't do in the back half. Aaron Francis as a strong bodied utility and Tim Sullivan as a ruckman/forward are the other two 'bigger' names.

I like midfielders Maris Olekalns and Matthew Nunn, along with forwards Ben Beioley and Keiran Agius. And I'm also fond of the indigenous twins from Port Adelaide - Kyle and Brandon Jackson.

Yeah I remember reading you post about Tahana awhile back and I took notice - watched him closely and definitely see it. Was a great call.

Beioley's form seems to have fallen away towards the back end of the year. He's one I think could go either way next year. Agius is a jet though, ditto Olekalns. I like the look of Dew and Snelling too.

The very one, playing for the North Ballarat Rebels at the moment.

Tucker?
Would have made it, did the list off top of my head and Tucker has been injured for a while, so not currently on my watch list. That said I expect great things from him in 2015, as I do with most that have come from basketball backgrounds (Balic comes to mind). Parto considered at Tiges pick, but left Tahana off as I don't like pure defenders.

Interesting to note that Parish is out with an ankle injury, did it 5 weeks ago and from memory played out the game.

Nick O'Kearney is going ballistic
I really like his ability to find space and execute under pressure, is only 69kg at the moment as well, so hopefully one the dogs look at next year if we address KPP needs this year.

Missed the first half, who played well?

Surprised the eastern states are up, actually. Probably a testament to their strength this year.
Nick O'Kearney had 17 disposals before half time, has been getting into the right spots

Coughlan and Cockatoo as well for the Allies
