Yep agree 100%

I'm hoping for a big outcome for Collingwood but at this stage I'm keeping my expectations low.

But even if there isn't anything much for Collingwood individually, the deal is still massive. Ed's fingerprints are all over it. Absolutely massive deal (reading this post back I think I'm sounding like Trump but its true, this deal is huge).

We've been hearing snippets for months. But now that the final product has come out you realise just how big this deal is.
I agree it's got McGuire's fingerprints all over it (why else would he break the story) and there will be a Collingwood component. Possibly money for Vic Park, possibly a new MCG deal? Will the Southern Stand redevelopment see us get fancy new facilities for players and/or members?

It's worth remembering one of the last big changes to the MCC contract seen us guaranteed 14 MCG games in return for the MCC giving up their guaranteed right to host at least one preliminary final.

Is it a sad indictment that we would all rather stay at home and watch it then venture out into the world and have a shared experience ?

No, it is a joyous testament to the fact we have homes with televisions in them. Celebrate!

Because we’re all becoming recluses and it’s just easier to watch footy from home.

This is not the first time I’ve heard people say it easier to watch at home.
And it’s true. HD tv, couch etc but at what point does that inhibit is from exploring the world out there?

Be nice if we could discuss the interstate games watched (or not) at the Holden Centre.

But no, must turn into bash somebody thread.

A bit poor in my view.

As to the issue, I prefer home home home for such things.

I'm not sure if it was something I said which offended you, SV. Apologies if it was mate.

Classic jmac, everything is relative when it suits your argument.
32 years between 1958 and 1990
20 years between 1990 and 2010
Only 8 years since 2010.

Relatively speaking it hasn’t been that long.

As an overseas fan I also don't really have a horse in this particular race, but things like streaming and good online media news and updates are things i'm very interested in. The club seems to be doing the very bare minimum in this area though; the club's media department looks like it's maybe 2 part-time guys texting and uploading whenever they get a few spare minutes.

People no doubt do say such things, but the fact is they're rolling up to watch AFL football in phenomenal numbers. Last year was the biggest year ever in terms of H&A and overall attendances, and the first three rounds this year have seen: 375,114, 339,530 and 393,587 attend. Brilliant figures! So even though many people would say "it's a television game these days" it's absolutely a game that people love to go along and watch!

Interesting disposition.

An interesting discussion.

Particularly if we talk about watching at home because it’s easier than going to the game if the weather is a bit inclement etc.

Sounds like just a tiny bit to Victoria Park :(

But what a huge deal. Hands off to everyone involved. This is absolutely massive.

The Grand Final at the G until 2057
The MCC redeveloping the Great Southern Stand
Etihad/Docklands redeveloped
The AFL House being knocked down and replaced with a huge complex/hotel
$250m for grassroots/womens footy

Please don't take offence because this stuff would be great if the AFL actually reflected grassroots football values.

But I just don't care about this fanfare.

How much of the $250m will go to Tasmania? Bugger all imo.

How much of the $250m will go to AFLW? A fair bit imo.

Why would the Victorian Government fund Tasmanian football?

PS. It's more of a swipe at the AFL. Leaving Tasmania aside, VFL grounds need redevelopment/financial support. I hope a fair chunk of this cash heads towards those endeavours rather than what makes the AFL look good in the media.

Steven Smith (mcc pres) said on the radio that they’re digging a little deeper into their pockets for tenant clubs under the new deal.

If you look at the pattern, we are due to win it in 2018 ie this year. 32 reduces by 12 to 20 reduces by 12 to 8. So I guess if we don't win it this year, the club has failed, the pattern has been ****ed up and who knows what.

Relax mate. You are not on your own. I haven't been to a game live since the 2013 EF loss and its aftermath. I must say it is very comfortable on the couch with the ability to turn off at will, not to mention "hard earned" directed to a far more enjoyable and profitable venture - golf.
