Butter wouldn't melt in the mouth of Collingwood supporters and the things I saw Collingwood supporters doing to other club supporters at Vic Park was all my imagination? Eddie does not have any conflict of interests in his current guises as club president and media employee? Tim Lane was wrong to refuse to commentate with him because he believed Eddie did have a conflict of interest? Victorians are far better than lowly South Australians? All South Australians have an inferiority complex? There is nothing wrong with the current MCC finals contract? South Australia and Western Australia don't have a long history of football? A club called the Adelaide Football Club was not established before the Collingwood Football Club? And... the Easter Bunny is real.... you really don't seem to have much of a grip on reality

I'm from WA, in case you haven't noticed. As for the other stuff you said, you are denying two official websites of the WAFL and SANFL. Face it: the Adelaide Football club, founded 1877, refounded in the 60s-70s or so, the Collingwood Football club, founded 1892

Yes you have got it in one....I am denying 2 non AFL websites (if you say so) because guess what....this is the AFL Competition....you see.....all this time you must have thought I was talking about something completely different....when in reality I was foolishly thinking you understood this is the AFL Comp and according to those guys....1991 was Adelaide’s year of creation....its kind of hard to follow so get some one else to explain it to you, YET AGAIN!!!

While the VFA was formed in 1860 or something, the SANFL was formed in 1877, WAFL in 1885 and VFL in 1897. In the late 1800s, WAFL and SANFL were attracting much larger crowds at their games than the VFL was. WAFL and SANFL were both better standards of Football than the VFL. It wasn't until the 50s that VFL started to catch up and was getting the same number of crowds as the WAFL and SANFL. These three were equivalent for quite some time, with the TFL(Tas), SFL(Sydney) and QFL(Qld) not far behind. Sure the vics invented the game, but nonvic football history is only about 10 or 15 years shorter than vic football. That is almost nothing when looking back at 150 years - less than 10% of 150. People like Eddie are telling the public that nonvic football history irrelevant, and making people like you and tio think that it really is...

Your history stays in yours - if the SANFL had been the one that went national, and Vic teams had joined that, our history would be irrelevant in that league. Yes, you have football history, no one's denying that - but you have no AFL history, aside from what you've earned since 1990. Would that we had an AFL composed of the best teams of each state league like the knockout National Championships of the 80's, but it ain't so - and making it so should not come at the expense of what was our state league. Better to give us our league back and start again on this AFL concept from scratch, then we can all have all the history we want ^_^

Third, the AFC of the AFL is a completely different corporate entity to the Adelaide of the 19th century or the "refounded" club of the sixties.

Fourth, you're forgetting that the VFL had to share its crowds with the VFA. And - no kidding - the VFL that was founded in 1897 had poor quality football in the 19th Century? You figure that out by yourself, Sherlock?

Fifth, just before, you claimed the SANFL was around "long before" Collingwood using that same figure of 15 years difference... (SANFL 1877 - Collingwood 1892), so is 15 years a significant difference or isn't it? Do make up your mind.

Perhaps it does and perhaps it makes him unpopular. The Collingwood members don't care about that. he is allowed to make a living just like anyone else. We don't pay him for his time, he does that for love. As a journo you can have you opinion and if enough people agree and stop reading or watching he will dissapear in that role. To date he is more successful than most so I guess the results say he is good at doing what counts. If he is unprofessional then Kerry Paker doesn't seem to care.

Why wasn't it the other way around? You know one team from Melbourne known as the East Coast Eagles or something, and then Port Melbourne coming into the WAFL at a later date?

How can they stop it? Presidents are generally unpaid. They have to make a living. do you propose that ceratin occupations are not allowed to be presidents? Is that only media people? How about influential supporters who help out for free? what if we vote Kevin Rose back in and he delegates certain jobs to Eddie to look after for him and Ed doesn't take a wage for it? Do we then extend the principle to other occupations, like stadium managers, food suppliers, owners of AFL sponsoring companies? This is impractical, illogical and possibly even illegally descriminatory.

Apart from the AFL being served by individuals with conflicts of their own which would make the whole thing unworkable, how would they frame the rules?

Before the 60s/70s, the WAFL n SANFL had a higher standard then the VFL, but then the tables started to turn

Now of course, the tables have turned AGAIN, with the National 16s comp being won by WA

Also, since the vics invented the game, then changing WAFL or SANFL to an AFL comp would be unfair to the vics, who invented the game.

Wish they had just started from scratch

Never said otherwise Jars. I would ask you, though, why it is that you believe journos either do or should have more integrity than any other occupations? Politicians should but don't. Police should but don't. Journo's? Maybe they once did or maybe people were once much more naive but right now I don't think they have any more integrity or are any more or less self interested/motivated than milk bar owners or carpet cleaners and they have a lot more credibility IMO than politicians and we pay them to have credibility.

He quite probably does though Jars. He has a huge ego and generally backs it up with results. I know that isn't the same thing as integrity but most people in his position lack accurate self perception. hell most people full stop lack accurate self perception if you ask me.

As you said not many do. Being president of a football club has nothing to do with it though. If he were a politician you might be able to argue integrity was an issue and you have an opportunity to vote with that in mind. The only people that vote on Eddie are the Collingwood members and they care about what he does for Collingwood first, second, third.....
