Would just like to thank those posters who told me to persist with this.

I'm now 36 hours in and can see why people adore this game. I've thrashed multiple bosses. Radahm, Renalla etc. Google has helped heaps and I have no ****ing shame in doing so.

I'm not great at this game but I'm trecking along nicely and can see myself finishing it eventually.

Can't wait for Elden Ring 2, which hopefully has quest logs/trackers in it.

Have you played the other From Software games? There's a couple that are better than ER.

Tried Bloodborne and turned it off after 20 minutes. Dark Souls 1 back in the day for similar results.

Which ones are better in your opinion?
Dark Souls 3 was my first Soulsborne game, and I think a long with Bloodborne it's definitely the most accessible.

Great graphics, gameplay, incredible bosses, fairly linear (at least compared to ER) it's still my favourite game in the Souls franchise.

Thoroughly recommend if you're enjoying ER! :)

My favourites are Sekiro and Bloodborne (give it more than 20 mins lol) but if you are enjoying ER you will probably like Dark Souls 1 and 3. ER is made from the exact same engine as DS3.

No one likes Dark Souls 2, I think.

Also just lost 6,500 runes by jumping down in the roundtable place not realising there was a super tough boss fight down there. Spewing.
Hehe it feels like the end of the world experiencing your first substantial rune loss. I was riding through Caelid looking for a particular item with 10k runes when suddenly my horse automatically dismounted and I was invaded by an NPC. First time being invaded and i died quickly. Tried to carefully plot my way back to those runes and again died to the same invader. Almost uninstalled the game out of rage 😄

Now im level 114 and it takes like 85k runes to level. Suffice to say there's no option but to run around with thousands of runes hoping not to die before you level

DS3 combat is the most similar to Elden Ring. The weapon art system in DS3 is basically a watered down version of what is in Elden Ring.

In terms of exploration the most similar game to Elden Ring is DS2. Even with its dated graphics it is a very varied and beautiful world with some of the best music in the series. I personally enjoy DS2 more than DS3 for this reason; you'll find that most rank DS3 higher though.

DS1 has the best world design in the series. A few areas in Elden Ring (like Stormveil) come close but nothing is as interconnected as in DS1.

Bloodborne is my personal favourite. Has the best weapons in the Soulsborne series. I can remember the move-set of each weapon I used very vividly; I can't say that about most weapons I've used in the Dark Souls series.

I'd recommend DS3 first. It's the most similar.
My personal rankings: Bloodborne > DS1 > Elden Ring > DS2 > DS3.

... And then Sekiro if you want to feel like a badass Shinobi killing machine one minute, and then a useless overwhelmed failure the next.

It's an experience!

I'm having huge issues getting through the Valiant Gargoyles. I get absolutely reamed. Managed to almost sneak a win one attempt but since then haven’t even gotten close. Will come back to them later.

LOL

I've had many moments where I've sprinted back to my death spot... or I should say ATTEMPT to and get caught out being tempted to earn more along the way... only to get swiped at and die!!
The worst one I ever had was around 150-250 thousand blood echoes when I got eaten by the second shark in the well in Bloodborne's DLC, first time going in there. Was genuinely upset.

I have never gone back in there. **** the rakuyo.

There is an item that can make those fishy boys fight each other.

My least favourite thing about Bloodborne is that so many of the cool weapons are hid so late in the game. I don't want to NG+ just to try a fun weapon.

I am DESTROYING this game. Beating most of the smaller bosses first shot. Margott attempt #4. I’ll play for 2-3 hours and destroy about 6-7 bosses. 2 tree sentinels made light work of them. The Lizzgott dragon or whatever it’s called, took that down in about 4 attempts.

I’m dual wielding and I use the mimic tear whenever possible.

For someone who has never played Souls before I’m going well.

I think this is a recurring theme in this thread haha.

Was going to post saying I think it probably at my limit skill wise getting to Godfrey, and to have a little break.

Haven't played for a few days but mixed it up with different ashes, actually followed his attacks and made light work of him. :)

That happens a lot. Feeling like you will never do it. Change your weapons/ashes or approach the fight differently (or just hope the ai doesn't do the attack you hate the most lol) and you pass it, then wonder why it was so difficult in the 78575765656 previous attemps... lol

Clocked the game at level 140. Gonna explore a bit more and revisit zones before doing the Elden Ring plus startover.

Only just read you can clone remembrances, and only just figured out you and leaving armaments slots empty makes a difference in carrying weight :$

After beating Godfrey on the weekend, was able to knock over Margot after a dozen goes. Wasnt too bad in the end.

Mountaintop of the Giants looks like it's going to be a bit of a prick.

It is, got up there when I was about level 90 and had to go back over other areas just to level up.
