I'm still yet to finish the game. I've tried the final boss fight upward of 100 times and just can't do it.

What level are you?

Go do some lvl farming at Mohgwyn's Palace to make it easier.

Bugger, that seems pretty high. Are you using Ashes, buffs etc? Can't remember if you can summon for the final boss either?

I can't remember how high I was but I found the last boss not too bad, Malenia was the hardest for me.

I stumbled upon Limerick Tunnels and raided it.

Finally killed the dragon and Margit the Fell. Went into a few catacombs. This game is so big!

What did everyone end up playing as when they did it?

My first playthrough I restarted as a melee and caster didn't feel right. Went a Blood lust dual melee build. Got my scimitars up to +4 and have been mowing down enemies with blood slash.

Going to find another dual weild weapon that might be better than the scimitars

Mate you blink and all of a sudden hours have flown past. Especially doing those caves and catacombs. There usually really good for xp farming as well. Make sure after your done one to jump back in the wiki to see if you missed any loot.

I went a dex blood build. Samurai I think. Duel wielded katanas.
Second run through was a strength build rushed to strength lol 60 so to use that giant OP hammer and was a bit boring

I use the mimic ashes.

Maybe that's the issue, try an Ashes that will complement your build. There is a tank one and a few others that might mean you can concentrate on DPS. I know they nerfed the mimic one at one stage but think I'd completed it by then.

I'd also watch a boss guide on it too for some hints if you haven't already.

I'm a mage and the mimic keeps attention off of me. I can get through the first fight just fine but the Elden Beast ****s me right up.

Have you tried Pest Threads or Shard Spiral?

Try a tank summons like the Redmane or Leyndell Knights. Also physical spells like Rock Sling or Stone of Gurranq. I haven’t tried them yet, but the black flame incantations are meant to work well also.

Would never have completed the game if it wasn't for the farming glitch at Mohgwyn's Palace

Even then you can summon for the final boss because I remember watching other people defeat the boss for me!

Finally finished my first run!

a little less than 200 hours
about level 190.
melee, no summons/ashes summons except the once coz i thought it might be necessary for blaidd's questline.
only cheesed once - ulcerated dickhead near the sewers because i just couldn't be bothered anymore.

as i am terrible at these games im pleased i could stick it out with the above rules.

also did some intense number crunching to provide the following data for numbers of deaths and their causes

Can you just jump from your NG+ and go to some portal or something to enter the DLC?
Or Do you start fresh with a new character?
Not sure i have another full playthrough in me lol

Reportedly the DLC is around the size of Lingrave, rumoured to have an above, and below area.

Cost will be around $50 AU

I think it’s $55 or $60 or a bit over a hundred including the base game. My understanding is that you can enter it at any point in the game but it’s scaled the same or a bit harder than Dragonbarrow and Farum Azula. Also depending on if you’re in Journey 2 or beyond as well.

From the trailer it seems to suggest you use Miquellas hand in the Mohg boss arena to enter this new area, and that some of the bosses in the new area is going to be Malenia level difficult.

Excited and trepidatious. Loved the game and platinumed it over 140 hours… but malenia destroyed me mentally lol.

I eventually beat her with a summoned player who barely barely beat her with a slither of health. Clutch moment brave stranger.

I loved watching Woolie Vs spend what felt like 40hrs trying to punch Malenia to death and he eventually got her.

I'll get destroyed in the DLC area if I use my Journey+7 save

Looks like they are employing a Sekiro style mechanic so that your attack power scales with each boss you defeat.

So it should matter less as far as what level you are at once you start the DLC.

Stupid question then, as apart from ER i cant "get gud" at souls-borne.
Does that mean that essentially farming is pointless because your attack level will scale and then be capped at that certain point/level until you beat the boss.

Or it will scale you up?

I reckon the only reason (Apart from summons lol) I could beat bosses was because i would grind XP to increase stats.
