No thread for this series and Im genuinely excited to see how India go after the life of Kohli and Rohit. Its going to be a close series but feel that India have the more better batsman even in English conditions. Given the way India bat, with alot of aggressors in that lineup and you could make the same case for the England top 6, Id be surprised if any of the test matches went the full 5 days barring weather intervention.

The squads below:

IND vs ENG 2025: India's Test Squad Shubman Gill (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Rishabh Pant (Wk), KL Rahul (Wk), Dhruv Jurel (Wk), Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav

IND vs ENG 2025: England’s Test Squad Ben Stokes (C), Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Zak Crawley, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Chris Woakes, Ollie Pope (Wk), Jamie Smith (Wk), Samuel James Cook, Brydon Carse, Shoaib Bashir, Josh Tongue and Jamie Overton

India vs England Test Series 2025: Date And Time The India vs England test series will commence on June 20 at Leeds. The final test match is scheduled to be held on July 31. All matches will begin at 3:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time (IST).

India vs England Test series 2025 schedule

  • First Test: June 20-24, Headingley (Leeds)
  • Second Test: July 2-6, Edgbaston (Birmingham)
  • Third Test: July 10-14, Lord’s (London)
  • Fourth Test, July 23-27, Old Trafford (Manchester)
  • Fifth Test: July 31- August 4, The Oval (London)

I also heard Graeme Swanns comments in the last few days saying that the series 'is a warm up for the Ashes' , which is a bit disrespectful to the Indian team, given how poorly England have played in the test format of late.

It will be intriguing to see how England fare against Bumrah. No Bethell is disappointing from a neutral's pov but fact he prioritised IPL over the Zimbabwe test means he prob doesn't deserve to be picked.

Have they? They beat NZ away, have past every test at home aside from drawing with Australia going back for years, and their only two stumbles have been in India where - aside from that incredible NZ win - everyone loses, and Pakistan where after one defeat the hosts decided they were going to start preparing wickets in marquees with industrial fans. Fair play, you can do what you want at home and England couldn’t handle it, but it was a pretty extreme way to tilt the balance.

Stokes’ captaincy record is identical to Cummins in terms of wins - in fact as of last weekend it’s slightly better. Cummins just loses a bit less.

It’s a myth. England haven’t been all-conquering, or ‘great’ but they have been ‘good.’

Their hubris is bloody annoying, but after watching that Jay Shah video the other night after the WTC video I would be happy to see India get belted.

Excited for this series. I root for England against India. As long as we beat England I don’t care what they do, but can’t stand India winning anything. Surely England favourites at home.

Their batting is pretty solid. Fireworks at the top, then decent 4-7. I’d say there batting looks better than India, probably as good as any in the world atm. Have never seen an Indian batting list so unstable. They need a few to take a step up.

It’s the bowling that’s interesting Bumrah vs Root will be fun, how much will Bumrah play? England will try a few bowlers out here so I’ll be keen to watch.

Great to have a few test matches concurrently (or near enough).

This will be an interesting series, with punches and counterpunches thrown.

England surely favourites at home. I expect Bumrah to wreak havoc, especially when he has the chance to bowl with gloomy conditions.

Bumrah will be managed throughout the series, its looking like he will play 3 tests out of the 5- citing longevity and workload. Id probably lean that now to a more closer series, possibly a draw in there.

I'll be a happy boy if I see Bumrah at his best against someone else.

Hard fought runs, 5 results in 5 tests, ideally 2-2 going into the 5th.

No Bethell is disappointing from a neutral's pov but fact he prioritised IPL over the Zimbabwe test means he prob doesn't deserve to be picked.
It is a two way street 100%.

Doesn't England's bowling attack seem pretty weak?

I guess India's is too without Bumrah but Krishna has something about him.
Bumrah is playing. Agree though that England’s attack looks the weakest it’s been for a while, although Woakes is a different bowler at home.

England winning the toss and choose to bowl first on a nice sunny day, that doesn't seem like Bazball, seems more like Noballs.

They must be worried about Bumrah, Siraj and co ripping through them with some early grass on the wicket in the first session.

The stats say that bowling first at Headingley is the right play usually, but it’s sunny overhead as you say, plus I did see on cricinfo earlier that apparently it’s been baking hot in Leeds in the lead up, so there’s not much grass on the wicket and it may break up more than usual later in the test. So it’ll be interesting to see if this ends up being one of the rare occasions when bowling first turns out to be the wrong decision there.

Looks pretty weak. Pretty unknown group outside of Woakes. There’s a bit of excitement hope over there about Atkinson, who’s injured currently. I liked the look of Tongue in the Ashes, will be interesting to follow their bowlers this series.

There’s some movement in the air as you’d expect for Headingley but not much else happening so far with the ball. If India can get through the new ball relatively unscathed then there’s a big opportunity to post a score and make this look like a blunder at the toss from Stokes.

Early days of course.

What’s happened to the young Indian batsman, Sarfaraz?

Came into the side a while ago and looked like he could do anything.

Is it just a case of loss of form, out of the side (I can’t remember if he was part of the Indian touring squad last summer)?

He toured Australia. Played for India A a few weeks ago but got outscored by Nair. I’m guessing it was between those 2 and maybe Jurel for that spot, the #3 seems a bit of an optimistic selection.
