wtf england ???

why say "we are building a team for 09 ashes" ???

ummmm there is a world cup in 2 months time ???

haven't heard about you guys talking about winning the world cup ???

IMO, there goals compared to australia's is so so different.

i know it is one-dayers, but at least try and build your one-day team instead of the ashes in 09 in 2 years time !!!

We don't give a toss about the World Cup, it's just an excuse for a sunny holiday in the Carribean.

Any England fan would take Test Match wins over winning the World Cup.

Haha funny stuff.. you only say you dont care about the world cup because you never win it.. as if you wouldnt want to lift that cup like the aussies do almost every time.
How many tests did you win in Australia anyway? Was it 0?

When you say we do you mean the ECB?

Given the amount of one day cricket played in the UK this is an extraordinary statement.

I am quite sure the players feel differently.

World Cup is the ultimate ODI trophy, players love it and Australia are no exception. It could be a holiday for some, but for others it's business as usual. If we win we add another trophy to the already extensive cabinet, simple as that.

Warne even said there's one thing he misses - the World Cup. He loved it.

They say that they are building a team for the Ashes in 2009 but why are they brining in 36year olds debut, surely you would bring in some youth.

Yet if you win the bloody thing you have no qualms in rubbing it in our faces and getting MBEs or whatever cheap piece of tin the queen hands out to anyone these days.

Don't act like you don't care, because deep down you really do and in great denial.

English cricket isn't very well managed at all. If they aren't going to try in ODI's, why don't they use it as a format to nurture their young talent? Players like Loye and Nixon shouldn't be in the team. They should just put all their up and comers in it and let them get used to international cricket (I know Tests are far different to ODI's, but it's a start).

I'd like to tell you all that I do care about winning the World Cup but the honest truth is I don't. If you asked England fans if they'd rather win the World Cup or the Ashes you'd find 99 out of 100 would say the Ashes. The ECB & players of course do care but I'd say the World Cup is not the top of our priority list.

Loye and Nixon, The ECB does care, and fans do care aswell

Hmm... well maybe there is too much? Or it is structures wrong, 16 40+ over games plus up to 13 T20 games... quite a lot there but not all in the same format, having the C&G Trophy in it's current format seems wrong.

Maybe we should have another division in the Natwest Pro40, a division of say 4/5/6 of the best OD teams where they play 50 over games and leave the others to fight it out in a lower division...

ah well, both seem about as likely as each other at this point in time!

What is the World Cup? Is that another of these 50 meaningless one day trophies floating around that the Aussies reckon are the greatest because they hold it?

the WORLD CUP is always big mate, just because your team is crap at one dayers and has never won a world cup you think its rubbish..........

........ yet you seem to rate victoria's 20/20 wins pretty highly

As I said, there about 50 or more trophies floating around the world for different things, in domestic cricket there are 3 to be won each year and we have the first available whilst atleast 3 states will end the year with nothing :)

The biggest trick the devil played was convincing people he didn't exist.

the world cup is a bit bigger than the other pissy trophies like the commo bank cup etc

are you saying football's world cup is meaningless because there are plenty of other trophies floating around?
So Football nations play 10 different series a year for a different trophy every time?

Well not nationally, but there's so many trophies in football: The FA Cup, THe Carling Cup, the Premiership, Champion's League, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup, and that's just using England as an example.

If you asked England fans if they'd rather win the World Cup or the Ashes you'd find 99 out of 100 would say the Ashes.

And I'd wager the same would be true for Aussie fans. That's irrelevant to the fact that your guys just seem to have no concern whatsoever about preparing for the World Cup. The other decent Test nations take the World Cup seriously. Why don't England? Could it be as simple as saying that your team just waves a white flag and says, "look, we're just not good enough, so why even bother?".

You quite obviously have no idea about the game.

Champions League, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup (which we hold :D ) just using England as an example??

Would that be why its called the European Champions League??

They can all be won by any team in EUROPE.

In England there are only 3 trophys, no different to domestic cricket.
