Essendon are now the one to watch out for - They can win the premiership

People said that before we played GWS and Collingwood. "Let's see how you go against Collingwood and GWS in the next few weeks". Well we comfortably beat GWS and drew to Collingwood.

We're not a top 4 side and CERTAINLY not the second best side in the comp, but Collingwood and GWS are better than Geelong, Melbourne and Carlton so we've earned our current placing.

Gold Coast away will likely be a loss next week given they haven't lost at home this year and Carlton the following week is a 50-50. Though they rated our second half fixture the hardest in the league, it's not that hard. This is the remaining fixture:

Gold Coast away
Carlton MCG
Bye
West Coast Marvel
Geelong MCG
Collingwood MCG
Melbourne MCG

Adelaide Marvel
St Kilda Marvel
Fremantle MCG
Gold Coast Marvel

Sydney Marvel
Brisbane Gabba

Red
represents the games I think we'll lose for sure. We never beat Geelong so I'm already writing that game off. Gold Coast haven't lost at home this year and we're crap at the Gabba. Green represents the games I think we should win (on current form!). So how high we finish hinges on those 4 bolded games. Lose all 4 and we still make finals, but finish 7th or 8th. Win all 4 and it's a top 2 finish. Go 2-2 and we secure a top 6 spot. Or we could crash and burn which is what most people expect.

How far we can go in September however is a totally different question. A premiership or even a prelim final is out of the question IMO. I don't think we will win a final, but I'd be happy with even one finals win this year. I personally don't want to make finals if we finish 7 or 8 because it does nothing for our development. Top 6 or nothing.

based on the last 2 weeks, we will be lucky to win any of those.

How did I miss this gem?

All the games you marked as green are certainties. Essendon could not possibly lose any of them. Agreed LOCKS.

Brisbane at the GABBA in Round 24 when Brisbane will be playing for nothing is an absolute LOCK for Essendon.

Geelong are totally cooked so that's another guaranteed LOCK.

That gets you to 15.5 wins. Enough for top 4.

Essendon are currently 2nd on the ladder so should easily beat Carlton at the MCG.

And the other 3 games.. Collingwood, Melbourne and Sydney... you are likely to start favourites in 2 of 3. Let's be conservative and assume you only win 1.

That's 17.5 wins. Top 2 locked. Home finals all the way.

why are so many Carlton supporters absolutely shitting the bed over a mediocre Essendon outfit.

bizzare.

I’ve heard the Bombre’s are certainties for the Presidential election - all 22 of them.

It is an ‘Oval Office’, after all…..

Deflecting expectation

look it's a very obscure way to troll so you have to give these nuffies the credit where its due.

they uno reversed themselves - hard feat to accomplish.

Mediocre?

You're 2nd on the ladder half way through the season.

The bar must be unbelievably high at Windy Hill.

If Carlton was 2nd I'd be picking out premiership tattoos.

You have to remember it's been a 15 year process for the Carlton faithful. They anticipated great things when Judd joined.

Fast forward to today and they've seen a lot of rebuilds + many coaches sacked . . . the last thing they now need is for one of their main rivals to surpass all the hard work they did last year, and all within a brief 6 months time. Which is the case for Essendon as we speak.
They already had that last year with their best season this century. Which resulted in a Collingwood flag

Total winning margin across all 3 finals barely 2 kicks.

Maynard snipes Brayshaw in the first final to leave the Dees one key player down.

Enormous late umpire help to cement the prelim and GF wins. GWS umpiring treatment was criminal.

Yeah, not a single question mark about that flag. None.
