Do tickets need to be pre-purchased, or first in best dressed? For level 1 and 3 that is.

First in best dressed. I think it is only the Grand Final where tickets have to be pre-purchased.

Hehe I think they have to sign it. :p

Is it even worth the money anyway?

It is if you go to plenty of games, but it is also a good investment. Think of it as an asset. The first day of the Boxing Day test is great. :thumbsu:

If you want a great seat at the g for all footy/cricket events, then yes. Definitely. You also get good deals on events like the recent soccer friendly (20 buck tickets) or rugby internationals.

If you only go to Essendon games and don't give a stuff about cricket, then probably spend a bit more on your EFC membership and get a good seat package.

Having said that, i gave the last summer of cricket a miss and have only got to 1 non-Essendon game so far this year, but i wouldn't give up my MCC membership for anything.

How come you can't apply with out the names of 2 other members? That's a bit tight.

That is because those who run the MCC are w***ers. Most members are fine, but there are plenty of elitists.

It is a very valuable asset. The waiting list is like 20 years. My dad signed me up when I was born.

Mate, I'm a cricket tragic (My favourite sport) and also an AFL tragic. I go to the test and 2 One Dayers each year. Love the Dons as well.

What do you mean by elitists?

Are they w***ers who are like "Oh look at me, I'm so rich!"?

I assume you guys are going on Friday night. We should perhaps meet and greet (a lame term, but it does the job).

I'd be up for it. Not sure where we'd meet though, plus I think my cousins are coming this Friday; not quite 100% sure yet.

And you'd be correct PP. :thumbsu:

Yeah, some are like that. I remember lining up for the Hawthorn vs Geelong game last year and this group of guys in suits just pushed into the line. I wanted to punch them in the head and I was swearing at them under my breath. But, as I said, most are just ordinary folk that genuinely enjoy their sport.

That depends. It is a lot of money, and to make it financially worth it you have to attend a lot of sport each year.

There is also the fact that if your circumstances change in any way, dropping it means you lose it forever. So if you lose your job, get married and have less time, move to England for a while (me), you have to keep paying for it even if you can't get the value out of it. Additionally, despite what you might expect member's often go 2nd best. The Southern Stand was built before the Northern Stand, and for years we had crappy seats and services. You need to remember MCC Memberships pay off those stands as well - but it does mean you can say you helped build the MCG!

And of course, it isn't Essendon's home ground.

But it does grant you walk up access to a huge amount of sport. I loved deciding on a Friday if I'd go to that neutral game, and have seen some crackers over the years that I would never have attended if I had to bother paying for it. And I was there for every final at the G between about 1996 and 2009 (except the 2001 game vs. Hawthorn). Which of course includes two GFs. I was also at the game for a number of other grand finals over that time.

So it can be worth it for the true sports/AFL fan, but it will cost a damn lot over your lifetime.
