I'm still unsure of whether it is based on the entire year or the games they played though.. Is it just open to interpretation?

Based on the entire year unless they were injured.

Basically if the player got injured (eg. Hayes) you assume that they played every game with the same form they were playing with before the injury

So in regards to Matera was he injured during the season or just omitted?

From memory, I think it was a mixture of injury and being rested as most of the GC young guns were.

I'm happy with my pick. He is a jet, and played really good senior footy before copping injuries

I didn't say otherwise. People can make their own mind up about the significance of him playing 3 games in the NEAFL to go with his 12 in the AFL.

For me its not at all unexpected, but I will treat his 2011 performance differently than if he had played 0 games in the NEAFL or 5+.

Still surprised I got Duncan at that stage, had an excellent year with the cats, average 17 disposals despite 3? (maybe 2, 4 or 5) games as sub, as well as getting a goal a game as a HFF/midfielder. Adds pace to my forward half, and poise

Must say, stoked to get matera. Was one of the most impressive kids this year

Still better players available and two of the recent picks (Johnson & Selwood) were both significantly better than Matera this year.

I'd call it a 'meh' pick at this point in the game.

Can't believe I got Steven at that late stage either. He was one of the big reasons St. Kilda got back into the season along with Dal Santo and Fisher. My team is forming nicely, now to complete the bench

Yeah Duncan was a steal. Still happy with matera, but overlooked Duncan, much to my displeasure.

Umm you said you couldn't believe he was still around. The reason he was still around is because there were better players available.

Maybe if you had of said "I was looking for a small forward pocket so happy to get Matera" it would have made more sense but your post clearly stated that you thought he was a steal.

Steven was one of the players I was referring to when I mentioned better players still available. Had a much better season than Matera.
