Looked on TV like there was a small group of lads wearing Essendon guernseys jumping up very pleased every time Port kicked a goal. Any specific idea why, or just a general dislike of the Roos? Not still angry about the marshmallow war a few years back?

The cynic in me says that they thought that you were more likely to pick Hurley than Freo, but I doubt it. Other than that, I wouldn't have a clue. There's not much bitterness between Essendon and North (except around the games, of course).

Maybe they are like me and wanting to see St Kilda get that top 4 spot? I would love to see Robert Harvey get into a grand final. Maybe a friend/family member plays for Port Adelaide?
North Melbourne and Essendon don't really have a rivalry. Back in the early days the bombers were known to the Roos as the rich kids up the road.

Probably just cheering on the team of their mates. And when it comes down to it, they are South australians. They probably consider Adelaide their second team. I used to go to neutral games with my Geelong supporter mates (before they turned into arrogant gits) and found myself supporting Geelong as well.
