Forecast showers late in the day. Wet conditions will not be a factor. It has to be pissing down for the game ot be affected by weather.mcVeigh and Lovett are big outs but Richo and Deledio have torn the Bombers a new one the last few times. I's say our outs along with Thursfield and Polak are more crippling.

I think constant drizzle and therefore greasy conditions will hurt essendon - their midfiled is a top of the ground midfield. Lack hard at the ball players like Tuck, foley. white

We have 15 out injured, i think we have more right to complain about injury than your lot...

No i reckon the bendigo bombers have more to complain than you. - most of those 15 are not senior players / in your best 22 .

Exactly what I was going to say. It's like us having 15 JONs injured. Big deal!

Watson & Lonergan more than capable of getting the hard ball. Peverill plays his best in the wet, expect him to gather 25+ touches, just depends what he does with them.

Winderlich, Mcveigh, Dempsey, Davey, Hislop, Hocking and Houli are all in our best 22. All are very important to the team but being Richmond supporters you wouldn't know that.

At least lloyd will have reason to grow grass in the air if he has a shot.

Essendon might struggle with the less than pristine conditions thye have become used to at the dome.

I think it will be a very close game.

Yeah it probably will be close, but whoever wins, they still won't make the finals so thats why im not too fussed.

watson ??? really i always thought of him as being a bit soft and an ordinary kick - i don't see you guys to much so that surprises me.

You probably are right but being 1/2 a game ahead makes it just that tiny bit more of a pssability for us. I think both sides are potential finalists next year and years to come.

having said that it is always much better walking out of a game having won than not :thumbsu:

Watson has actually transformed his game pretty well. Sheedy had him earmarked as a running midfielder and it was never his go. He's now an inside mid who gets the hard pill and dishes out the handball, kind of like Tuck does for us. That's the way I see it anyway. Could be wrong.

He's a good clearance player with a solid body. However his kicking is shocking and teams have come to realise that because he is so predictable with the handball they look to ship them off

So kicking with a wet ball would even be worse - assuming it rains.

If it does rain the lloyd and lucas factor you would think would be dimished. Probably Ditto Hughes - Riewoldt has shown us thus far that he has a great footy brain so hopefully even if the wet affects his marking he could still use his bodty and brain well. Morton should not be affected by the wet, Browny as well. need a couple of goals from the likes of White, Foley, maybe even polo and johnson drift down and snag one or two. The could be enough to kick a winning score.

I am assuming Richo and lids are out.

I think your potential to make the finals next year at least is higher than ours atm. Just my opinion. Keeping players on the park will be the key as always. If we have another year like this year, there is no chance again for us.

As for it is always much better walking out of a game having won than not, definitely peejay definitely.

I just think that after the great let down of the Carlton game - centenary hoop lah and all that that the team have it in their minds to make up to the fans. I think they have the ability but he mind set is the key and i reckon it could be in thhe right spot this week. The carlton game was bad as we led at 3/4 time and just went missing in the last so mentally they should be righ to go.

Having said that you could argue that the win it for polak mentality last week might not be there this week. I think the beauty of last week was that we were 2 goals down at 1/4 time so preformed a 89 point turn around in 3 quarters. Would have been easy to ease up in the last quarter as well but the final margin was the biggest margin of the match.

Question is home much petrol was spent. Team did not get back to Melb until 2am on Monday (as flight was delayed) so in reality not getting back to normal routine until Tuesday morning.

Ah yep, compare that to Essendon who finished up at 10 on Saturday night - not that I'm looing for excuses. But if its wet, we will need to blast them early knowing that they will come hard at us late in the last quater with the Richmond boys having tired legs

You don't see us much but claim Watson as soft, that's an odd statement.

Watson has actually transformed his game pretty well. Sheedy had him earmarked as a running midfielder and it was never his go. He's now an inside mid who gets the hard pill and dishes out the handball, kind of like Tuck does for us. That's the way I see it anyway. Could be wrong.

Fairly spot on Tugga,

Sheeds had him down as a KPP when he first arrived but to Watson's credit he spent an off season trimming down and became a midfielder. Sheeds can credit himself with backing Watson's brain to learn the job, his kicking has improved when he doesn't think about kicking it, it's when he has time to look around when he shanks them the most.

Thats always the case, what mindset our teams will have on the day.
Your performance over the Eagles was excellent, but keep in mind the quality of opposition and their mindset as well. Not taking anything away though, to fly over there and destroy them is an excellent effort.
The spent petrol issue is the key, it will be your only concern i should think. Apart from that i think you have us covered.

Good start but shouldve wrapped it up earlier. :o ;)

by saying that mcveigh is a bigger out then richo im not saying that he is better or has more talent then richo. im saying in the context of this game he is more important.. we have one more midfeilder on our list to choose from who arent rookies. that is ricky dyson.

im comparison you lose richo it gives your young forwards in hughes and reiwoldt much more supply and when you chuck in morton and a few others you can much more easily cover the loss..

to add to that we dont only lose a player who can get a heap of clearences and pinpoint lloyd and lucas on the chest but a player who goes forward and kicks goals in his own right. shown by the fact he has contributed 22 goals so far this season

in the context of this game mcveigh is a bigger loss for essendon then richo is for you guys.. that could be taken as a compliment as yo uhave greater depth but can also show that our injury list combined with club suspensions is beginning to take its toll again

I'll cut you some slack cause you said you don't see us much. Still saying that Watson is a bit soft is one of the more bizarre statements on BF.

After the game on the weekend Leigh Matthews made a good point by saying that both forward lines were excellent, and that it was simply a matter of who won the midfield contest. Now Brisbane might not be Geelong, but there are still some pretty big names in Black, Power, Johnstone etc. which all got pretty dominated on the weekend.

This year Essendon's midfield has actually been one of its strengths, and those who rate Stanton and McVeigh as our only two decent midfielders must not have watched many games. Welsh has arguably been our best, Reimers has been outstanding and Watson has increased his effectiveness dramatically. Not to forget the main instrument of our midfield success in David Hille.

Having said that, I'm not suggesting that our midfield will beat or even draw even with yours on saturday. As has been said, Ricky Dyson will most probably be the death of us, and if it weren't for about 7 certain starters not being available he would have hopefully never seen selection in 08. Perhaps Knights will send him to the forward pocket and give the in form Monfries a run in the middle.

Please do play Monfries in the middle, would suit us just fine
