Essendon in crisis as players set to be named in banned drugs inquiry

Then speak to the people who leaked the names to the press. The fact is the Joint Investigation did happen and was given the green light by the "rule makers". Had the EFC not either through intent or incompetence broken the rules then there would be no investigations of any sort.

Also the 60 pages of hurr-durr WADA code etc you refer to is being quoted because that is what this scandal is being investigated against and primarily used to charge the EFC and the players against (if charges occur). Therefor it does have relevance. Much more relevance than cover up conspiracies or Essendon are too big for the AFL not to have competitive hope.

Don't be mad at me or the press for the players plight; speak to those at the club responsible for getting them into this situation in the first place.
Congratulations on missing the point. I acknowledge that my club did things that either broke or came close to breaking rules and that this is where the situation stems from.

My point was that this situation has been handled in a disgusting manner since it began. No fairness, no due process, no respect for the people or the investigative process that should be followed. If this were a criminal investigation (which some players in it should potentially be subject to) I'd hope there'd be some semblance of ethics displayed.

Released them to who.Robbo released the names and he categorically stated last night on AFL360 he had not seen the interim report
So he is saying it was just a little leak, not a big leak?

I agree the "joint investigation" stunk. However for whatever reason it was signed off on. The "leak" was a result of the information provided from the joint investigation; surely you can understand that all parties deserved the results of the joint investigation.

Will I definitely want my pound of flesh, hell I want more than just a pound. The whole EFC should be dismantled, Essendon have been cheating for a long time now but to be drug cheats is a different level. People feeling sorry for the player's have no clue, fact is the player's knew they were setting out to cheat they signed consent forms and none of these adult's bothered to check what they were going to be injected with? Do Essendon really think the public is as stupid as their club? The player's aren't some innocent party here no one held a gun to their heads and forced them to get doped up hell they willingly signed consent forms and willingly went to off site clinic's to get injected. So how people can claim that the player's are innocent is beyond me. And to top it off they seem quite proud of the cheating as well what a pathetic disgrace.

I'm not sure why it makes any difference as to where the Herald Sun got the names from.

I just can't work out why they released them now.
They would have known these names for months.

Robbo tried to make out that once they heard Asada were reviewing the documents that they went looking to find out which players were being reviewed.

I can't cop that.
Robbo also said that he reckons that pretty much the entire list received injections.
But these 12 players were used in the report.

So why just publish the 12?
Why not publish the entire 2012 list and then state that these 12 players are known to have provided the most information?

Wouldn't that have made it easy to swallow?

Something is going on. It has to be.

Paul Little didn't leak it.

See, I can do that too.

I find it hard to dream up a scenario where it suits anyone's interests, including the Hun, to publish the names right now. It's odd.

As in anything else we try to interpret on this subject, we lack some of the necessary information to move from guesswork to deduction.

I note with some interest Fahey's comments that leakage of information early in the process leading to Infractions is almost always from the accused parties, as they commence their PR and sympathy response.

But even that seems a little premature with the info we have at hand.

Bingo. Which is why I reckon the leak came from the players themselves.

If the end result is the cheats get away with it , then it is the right result for the "AFL" it isn't the right result for football, and I think that was the intention of the AFL in the first place, let them get away with it......lets face it who has actually been hammered for cheating under vlad.
My club.....and I'll add that we were definitely not running solo, we were just exponentially more stupid

Agreed, but the investigation has only been called complete now, not the last 13 months of leaks.

Was that under Vlad? or just before? but no matter what you guys did pales into insignificance to the Damage these cheats have done to our game, not even the Demons feeble attempts at match fixing count.

True, however how many leaks were there from the time Essendon accepted the S1.6 charge to Andruska's presentation last week stating the investigation section was over?

None as the Essendon FC( you can interpret the FC into whatever you like) thought they were home and dry, Hird had his million, the papers where writing puff pieces, Jake King was being told he was the antichrist, until last week in the senate........... This has Essendon FC written all over it, throwing people under a bus has been perfected in napier street these past twelve months or so.

I do feel sorry for the players who are about to have their careers and reputations possibly destroyed simply for believing 'the messiah' that everything they were doing was okay. One or two players maybe but so many? Hopefully they nail the architect of these programs to the wall while the players are not treated too harshly.

Possible; however it would suggest that the party with the most information in regards to the investigation is the one less likely of the three to be handing out free news headlines.
Yep, no argument there. I've never been that concerned with ASADA leaking, the fact that the AFL sat in on every interview however means there probably isn't a lot of difference between the subsets of the data that those two organisations had.
