Essendon's coaching structure...

Can someone enlighten me on what it is and how it works? The only description I can find of the roles are below? I have compared it to Hawthorn's structure for comparison.

Anyone else find it a little bereft of structure.

One could argue they don't need titles they may know their role. Well, I would argue that if you are hired into a specific role because of your experience, you'd be given a title wouldn't you?

A couple of years ago when they got caught doping, they pulled a super duper organisational “matrix” out of nowhere in an attempt to exonerate certain characters at the club.

They’ve learnt **** all.

Bomber Thompson is available though, and probably looking for work.

Honestly what they choose to call their titles to really doesn't matter much.

In the search for excellence I don't think clubs have a rigid structure. It's not like creating roles and recruiting to fill them.

It's more looking at the people you have and making sure you have your needs covered.

Clarko has a very specific structure he has developed over learnings about what the most important facets are to have strategy and leadership in.

He has very clear role definitions and seeks out and targets people who have the proven ability and capability to deliver.

If they don't even have titles then doesn't this seem to indicate a rather ambiguous set of accountabilities, not to mention the specifics of why they were recruited in. This is evidenced by Rutten actually having a description.

I dont think you know frankly. It's very unlikely those guys are all told to get out there and perform. They would turn up to work with specific jobs to do. Again the titles aren't evidence of anything.

That is the biggest TELL I have ever seen. Honestly had no idea that is how Essendon describe their coaching setup.

If you had spent a few seconds clicking on each profile, you would have found within a description of each coaches role eg

Skipworth transitioned to coach of the midfield group last year and will again oversee that area of the ground in 2019.
The former Adelaide and Essendon player previously headed the forwards, having also been the Bombers' VFL coach before that.
Skipworth played 44 games for the Crows (2001-06) and 11 with Essendon (2009).

A website layout might not suit you or others looking for the next Essendon scandal but are you really fool or desperate enough to believe that what, they show up each day without a clear understanding of their role at the club?

Richmond also have a similar model each coach has defined roles and responsibilities

Justin Leppitsch - Defensive Coach

Andrew McQualter - Forwards Coach

Adam Kingsley - Midfield/Stoppages

Craig McRae - VFL and Development Coach

Xavier Clarke - Development Coach and VFL midfield

Ryan Furguson - Development Coach and VFL backline

They are who are listed on the club website I’m also certain we have Ivan Maric on as a ruck Coach

According to Wikipedia Skipworth is midfield, Harvey defence, Paul Corrigan forwards, Kelly development. Mark Corrigan is the only one with 'performance' as his title.

The performance coaches are officially line coaches. I think the titles are generic (we do something similar where i work, simple titles but specific role statements).

Cant remember who is who though
