A shitstorm has blown up around the Villa home game v Maccabi Tel Aviv on 6th Nov. Birmingham's Safety Advisory Group advised that Maccabi fans should not be able to attend the game after West Midlands Police labelled it as 'high-risk' based on the likelihood of clashes between Maccabi fans and pro-Palestinian protesters. The National Police Unit supported the decision. Next minute, national and local politicians claim the decision should be reversed because something something antisemitism.

It's not the first time away fans have been banned from games due to security concerns. Celtic and Rangers didn't allow away fans in derbies for many years. Fans of Ajax were prevented from attending their Uefa Champions League match against Marseille. Napoli’s home game with Eintracht Frankfurt won't have away fans due to the high risks to public order and safety.
