I have complete blind faith that we will not appoint Pulis, and that Pereira will be our manager by the end of the week. Until then, I'm sticking my fingers back in my ears.

Pereira night actually be on here. Portuguese media reporting that he's had a pre-contract agreed with Everton for months.

Would be happy if this was the case. But If following Everton has taught me anything..... Wait until something pops on the official website.

So, the current situation is this.

Roberto Martinez has told Wigan chairman Dave Whelan that he will have made a decision regarding his future by tomorrow (so effectively tonight for us). Should it be a move to Everton that he is contemplating, then we will find out about it over the next day or so. What I believe is more likely is that Martinez will go to Stoke. There are reports saying that Stoke are chasing Martinez hard, and the fact that he has brought forward his decision in the immediate aftermath of Pulis leaving Stoke is more than a coincidence in my opinion. So I expect that Martinez to Stoke will be announced by this time tomorrow.

It's been well documented that Vitor Pereira was a guest of honour at a game at Goodison around Christmas. This fits very nicely into the timeline that the Portugese media are creating, which specifies that around March, a non-official agreement was made between Pereira and Everton that he would be a very strong candidate for the job, should it open up. This would be the first evidence of any sort of post-Moyes contingency plan the board had put in place, the absence of which I would still find staggering, even when considering the incompetence of the board. Pereira was in London yesterday. The word from Portugal is that Porto have no intentions of offering Pereira a new contract, but that there will be an announcement one way or another tomorrow (again, tonight for us) regarding Pereira's future at Porto. This announcement isn't as locked in as the Martinez one, but some movement on this front seems imminent. Porto fans have resigned themselves to the fact that he is leaving, and he has actively sought out contact with Everton to impress his interest upon them.

It is has also been widely reported that Everton have interviewed three internal coaches in Weir, Stubbs and Neville, although most are just guessing at the nature of that interview. I'd say one of these three is the back up for Kenwright, should both Pereira and Martinez fall through. I would expect a reshuffling of the backroom staff though, and think that these meetings probably were mostly surrounding this. I also think Neville may go and work with Moyes at United. I don't think the imminent threat of an internal appointment is as pressing as it has been over the last couple of days, but is still a very real possibility.

Also, the new club badge is apparently to be revealed tomorrow. It is god awful, and I'm sure that the club would be well aware of the fact that every single Evertonian the world over is pretty pissed about this. The club's main recruitment drive for season tickets is apparently this Saturday at some event, and I would be amazed if the PR machine would allow the club to go into that event with no manager and a shithouse new badge. I think we will have a new manager by the end of the week, one way or another.

Apologies for dribbling on a bit, but I'm allowing this to consume me completely as a convenient distraction from uni work. Hopefully this time tomorrow we have a much clearer picture as to the future of our club. And hopefully that future includes Vitor Pereira!

Yeah that badge....... God awful.

One thing that has been mentioned and not sure how accurate it is, that Pereira had signed a pre contract with Everton some time ago. I just could not see Kenwright having the nouse to have started looking at contingencies of Moyes leaving, despite it being very much a possiblilty we were all discussing months ago.

Any businessman worth anything at all would have been planning for a future without Moyes, no matter how confident they were that Davey was staying. I know that Bill is knob, but I think I still like to hope that he has at least one competent bone in his body.

What is it with my clubs and changing logos to crap?

You and me both.

Good to see someone else legendary enough to support Brisbane Lions and Everton though :thumbsu:

****ing hell, now Martinez has put back any decision until next week. There hasn't been a peep from Portugal other than one report that he's going to sign with them. This is turning into a circus already.

Righto, time for another update!

As mentioned, Martinez bizarrely cancelled the deadline that he had set for himself and put back any decision to next week, probably next Monday. Perhaps he thought that by putting some sort of timebomb on himself, he would receive an avalanche of clubs begging for the freshly relegated manager. Apparently he has now buggered off back to Barcelona to be with his family. I think it's becoming increasingly unlikely that we will sign him, or at the very least, I don't think he is our top target.

For much of the day (night), there wasn't a peep out of Portugal regarding Pereira, but word eventually got out that Porto chairman Senor De Port Ageezer (may not be real name) would be appearing on some football talk show at 9pm their time. Apparently this fella is quite the character, and he annually makes a public appearance like this to discuss the world. Seems like a bit of a weirdo, but he's done some pretty amazing things with the club, but good luck to him.

Anyway, on this program he revealed that yesterday he and Pereira met and apparently they offered him a new deal, which he has not immediately accepted. Ageezer then said that Pereira is in the process of making a decision, as he has received offers from clubs outside of Portugal. Most journos there are very confident that Everton have offered the job to him. In the interview, Ageezer was discussing what he would like to see in a potential replacement for Pereira, and apparently the tone of the interview very much suggested that he is leaving. Most Porto fans are now very confident that he is leaving Porto, and should this be the case, Everton is by far the most likely candidate.

A few media outlets there have said that Pereira plans on making a decision by, you guessed it, next Monday. Perhaps Martinez knows that he is plan B behind our man Vitor, and is playing a waiting game in the knowledge that should Pereira fall through, he will get an offer.

Basically, it was a great day in that none of the rumours involved Phil Neville or Alan Stubbs, and the likelihood of Pereira coming increased again. I don't know what to expect for tonight - there could be an avalanche of news or it could slow down a little bit as it seems every man and his dog is mulling over some sort of a decision.

Also, no movement on the badge, so club mouthpiece David Prentice has ballsed that one up. Perhaps they've put it back to use a managerial appointment to lessen the blow? Regardless, it is happening, apparently it's already printed on the carpet in the ground.

Long story short, hurry the feck up Bill! We want Vitor and Vitor wants us!

I want Pereira at Everton backed with money to spend (not from anyone leaving), but have a feeling all this will be an anti-climax and we end up with Martinez & 5 quid to spend

I know Everton and theory do not always go together, but there should be money to spend when you look at it.

Firstly we have a manager who is going to be on a lot less money than Moyes was. We also have extra income through tv revenue, not sure on the exact figure but I remember reading around 3 M. And surely if there were funds in January that were made available that we were spending on Leroy Fer....... This money should still be available.

Without selling anyone, surely we should have between 12-15 Mill to spend. The club has continued to say we do not need to sell anyone. Especially when only a portion of money was reinvested back in the squad from the sale of Rodwell.

We should have a fair bit to spend from the TV money, more than 3 million I think. Neville and Moyes leaving will free up a substantial amount of wages. Would be happy to sell Fellaini and use that cash, unless Vitor sees him as a vital cog in his charge towards winning the Champions League.

Well, the badge is official.

A very negative reaction to it, but as far as I see it the crest could look a million different ways although in the end, we are still going to be Everton FC

Very true, I'll save my angst for the managerial appointment.

To be honest, the more I look at it, the less I hate it. I think most people will end up getting used to it.

Also we are playing in the Champions Cup pre season tournament against the likes of Juventus, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea. Should be fun...
