Three plus years is a decent whack but pretty much within sentencing guidelines and regardless of the war on drugs and the rights and wrongs of it he knew he was breaking the law and he got caught.
Not convinced that the big dealers get off lightly a few years in the clink and it's easy to lose control of any drug network you manage and the cops seizing most of your assets as proceeds of crime.
Sad for Stevens family but if he was a full blown addict and getting caught has made him address his addictions then there is some good coming out of it.

Penalty seems harsh but when Meth is involved they seem to go harder then what they would do for other drugs.

Harsh by what standard ?....He was convicted if trafficking 996 grams of meth ! Fisher's sentence is a slap in the wrist compared to what he would have copped in many other countries around the world.

If you have money a silk is worth having. Even if it’s just for sentencing, spending $100,000 that might see you save a year in jail is worth it.
Lynn has probably spent every cent he has on Dann (at one point Dann said he didn’t think he’d have enough for him to do the trial) but it might mean he spends some of his quality years as a free man.
And there are a few silks that get the lion’s share. It’s why Richter used to turn up everywhere as well. Dann is one of the go tos in crim at the moment.

The money spent is eyewatering. Know one lawyer very well off and not even criminal.
It is a lot of comp and the lions share goes to the top few. A lot who have no profile struggle. ( not all criminal are well off and some won't take a reminder notice seriously).
Look at the most basic end. Plead guilty for a minor misdemeanours or dd a lawyer doing basic prep and a 15 Min argument will set you back 700.

Agreed. If Sam Fisher was in Singapore or Indonesia or any South East Asian Country, a good chance he gets the death penalty
Not many Caucasians get sentenced to death in SE Asia.
Asian-Australians and those with mental handicaps appear to be the victims of choice for Balinese and Singaporean authorities.
