Come finals time will Collingwood play the experience, or stick with the youth?

Will we play Presti/Lockyer/O'Bree or will we stick with Reid/Sidebottom/Beams

What would you like to see?

Re: Prestigiacomo/O'Bree/Lockyer V Reid/Sidebottom/Beams

Presti is almost certainly best 22 for mine come the crunch in finals. Rarely gets beaten and in finals type games that is important.

As for SOB/Lockyer, Rusty and Beamsy are well ahead.

IMO, a better comparison would have been with perhaps a Macaffer type player as Rusty and Beams are both best 22 players weekly for mine.

I would suggest that we already have seen the outcome when we play the experienced players all together.

If we want to change that outcome, we need to change the personel.

So far this season we have done that, and so far it is working. If it continues to work during the season, I can't see why you'd change it...

It's not a matter of experince vs youth it's about team balance and your best side. For that reason guys like Beams, Sidebottom and Wellingham are sure to play if fit. As too is someone like Presti.

As for the others like Ried, O'Bree, Tarks, Brown etc it will all depend on form, match ups and fitness.

I agree, Presti is in our best 22, especially come finals time when we need him to be at his best, but last year even he'd say he didn't have a great series. Riewoldt kicked a bag on him, Tippett kicked a bag, and I think he didn't even go to Mooney in the Prelim because he was out of form.

As for the OP - If they get us there I'd be shocked if we didn't play them.

Whatever they bring into finals if we're winning we will play them based on form.

who are the youth you are talking about?

Dick? i wouldnt no because we have medhurst and avis covering his positiin.

players liike mccarthy and maccaffer is a no for me, still i would rather see players like lockyer and leigh brown in the squad because they would make more of an impact on the game.

nathan brown and ben reid would be the tough ones too give a call, put it simple, if they are still in the squad at the end of the season they will both be playing finals.

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to selection in finals age will have nothing to do with it. MM will continue with his 'horses for courses' approach where the match committee picks the side that they believe is going to bring home the bacon that w/e.

What other method would you use??

Why even question Presti? He is our Fletcher! He got injured and was rested to regain some fitness - no way would we go into a final without him unless he is injured. He's 100 x better than Ried and Brown so I'd have no quams in dropping them for Presti any time of the day.

Age is irrelevant. Ability, form and fitness will be the deciding factors in picking the best team for each match.

Competition to make the team helps motivate all players to work hard so having more than just 22 players capable of playing finals is important.
