Clearly you still have no idea what the theory of evolution actually is.

The universe just is....Evolve is a man made concept denoting gradual development from one stage to another....It actually explains nothing.
Stars which die, burn out & implode are actually devolving.....By attaching the notion of change & time in the one concept (evolve) you are attempting to claim ownership of causality itself in an abstract concept....Not only that.....It also inheres a teleological component.... It is utter nonsense, and it explains nothing.
he doesnt know what "theory" is either.Clearly you still have no idea what the theory of evolution actually is.

He is an idiot. He is trying to use someone else's argument from another topic (that he was against), to support his position here.Man-made this man made that, **** me... you wanna talk about pink unicorn mate concept injected in your brain magically by a flying pig, go ahead but this is an evolution thread to discuss evolution and related subjects... if you dont wish to discuss this why are you posting in this thread?
Honestly i didnt realise that philosophy came from a divine source, the concept he talks about so proudly is "man made" (as in thought) as well and he himself being a man trying to discredit "man made" stuff is hilarious to say the least. Also time is man-made blah blah, yeah whatever, i tried reasoning with him, its impossible to do so. He lives in a world of his own. Maybe he can disprove the concept of space-time and get that nobel. He is an idiot. He is trying to use someone else's argument from another topic (that he was against), to support his position here.
Really is the biggest try hard I've ever come across.
You have moved from Rumi to Gray, do you take turns or what? stop obsessing over a stupid article from a pissed off atheist

Address the articles points 'quick-draw'.![]()
we agree, the universe just is. i thought your view was that it was created? The universe just is....Evolve is a man made concept denoting gradual development from one stage to another....It actually explains nothing.

IMO all that exists just is, the universe, humans, animals, plants, minerals etc... exist because it can, no purpose, we have evolved to a stage of self awareness and that has allowed us to ponder these questions. nobody said the evolution process was perfect, maybe we are a mutation, here for but a blink in time, dare i say "a brief candle in the dark" ?
so is your premise- if it can be thought of or pondered that is proof of the possibility of it's existence?I have no issue with the Aristotelian notion/premise of the eternity of the cosmos....Given that all there is, is the eternal present, how could I not?
Mankind, on the other hand, not so much....Our mortal nature is finite & yet we can conceptually grasp the notion of the eternal.
Therein lies the rub.
so is your premise- if it can be thought of or pondered that is proof of the possibility of it's existence?
i did say the possibility, are you saying you have a hint of agnosticism in you? That's Not proof....As we are finite & can never be certain...But it is logical to assume it, based upon that conception.

thanks for the openness of your reply. a couple of points-I was once an Atheist too, until I came to my census...Sue me.
The whole point of this debate is the uncertain, unknowable nature & origin of life, consciousness & existence.
None of us know for certain, but we can offer arguments for & against, this version as opposed to that one.
Have said this many times: Not sold on Evolutionary theory, but it remains our current best scientific guess....And it still inadequately accounts for mankind's unique consciousness.
I'll stick by mythos, all the same....A far more holistic, all-encompassing approach, in my view....It suits my temperament.
thanks for the openness of your reply. a couple of points-
1) i think your term "best Scientific guess" is (i don't know if intentional) a bit of an attempted put down of science. IMO the evolutionary process is a hell of a lot more than a guess, it is a scientific theory. see link please.>http://www.dictionary.com/browse/scientific-theory
2) although i have classed myself as an atheist in the past, looking back i have always either been a believer or an agnostic as i am now. we may not be as far apart as we assume we are. i am open to the possibility of the existence of a higher intelligence although i am not as certain as you usually appear to be. i however have no time for institutionalized religion.

What would you say are the major evolutionary pressures that the sun faced that resulted in it adapting the way it has?
Nah....Not a put-down of science.....More a specification of context.
There's the scientific approach & there's the religious approach to cosmogony....I prefer the latter....Which is not to say, I ignore the former.
Besides, you guys are always here to remind me.![]()
What is unique? Homo erectus and homo habilis were intelligent people too with IQ's around 50. Your doubts come lack of information and knowledge, neanderthals were very intelligent actually with IQ's in the high 70's .You may not be sold on ToE that doesnt mean anything really, its has more substance in it than your theory of god, thats for itHave said this many times: Not sold on Evolutionary theory, but it remains our current best scientific guess....And it still inadequately accounts for mankind's unique consciousness.
