Yep, you can spectate...but it's shocking. Graphics are off the PS2 and the views are pretty average. Still, it's 100x better than watching a list of names. It's pretty glitchy in that the car will lag and appear like it's bouncing all over the place with sparks flying everywhere!

I'm going through at least one full season in career mode so I have setups for each track, I forgot to write down the setups from last years version before I traded it in, oh well.

Just went from 17th after qualifying to 4th in a Force India thanks to a setup off this site;

http://www.racedepartment.com/f1-2011-game/

I used them last year for my initial setups, they seem to work very well.

Wow, it is so much harder to keep the car on the track this year. I gotta get used to the cars again before I go online. Should be good fun.
Yep, it's not like last year where through most of the fast corners you could just gun it and hold on for the ride.

The tri corner at Istanbul is a bitch now, you really have to control the car, and it's positioning through each of the 3 aspects of the corner.

I started to get it right towards the end of the race, after 2 hours of practice and qualifying (real time on track).

Onto Catalunya now, the last chicane isn't as bad as it was last year, you can actually use the kerbs.:):thumbsu:

Just got this game tonight, a couple hours in so far and loving it. Definitely looks better than last year's version. Improved in many areas. :thumbsu:

Although agree with above it's much harder to control the car this year. Just using a controller. This game makes me want to buy a wheel but not one of those ridiculous $300 Logitech ones. Maybe a cheaper one. How much difference would it make vs controller?

I'd assume handling would improve 10 fold. Pretty sure you can get a cheap one from JB. Think they're called Ferrari thrustmaster GT. $119 I saw them for today.

Add me if anyone wants some online going. I have about 3-4 other good (ie non bumper car) drivers as well, so could get a decent group going.

Have found random online races are just bumper car central still. :thumbsd:

Hopefully getting a G27 next week, and some sort of stand.

I've used the Thrustmaster mentioned above and it's pretty good, got no issues with it at all. Although, it didn't work with F1 2010 on my PS3, but works on PC. Double check, but I think it works with 2011 on PS3.

Few problems with online. Still a crash fest, even worse with 16 racers.

Copping penalties for going through ghost cars and also losing XP for having 'collisions' where I'm the one getting hit or I'm driving straight through a ghost.

Like Nurburgring as a track, once I get it right it will be a joy to drive. Much better than Hockenheim.

Found this being sold online for $89 with little shipping costs. Much cheaper than JB.

Cheers. :thumbsu:

The penalties in this game are an absolute joke. I get hit and I'm the one that gets a penalty. A massive pile up occurs blocking the track forcing me to run into someone. I get a penalty. I get knocked off the track by someone else and am forced to cut the corner to go through. I get a penalty for an illegal overtake. I run over the kerb and cop a penalty for corner cutting. People turn into ghosts and I drive straight through them. I get a penalty and lose XP for causing collisions.

The 2010 edition was incredible, but this game is giving me nightmares at the moment. Graphics seem down in certain parts on last years too. A positive is the Nurburgring. It is a great track to race on, it's just a shame some people online think this is bumper cars. I really hope there is a patch to fix things.

Also another thing. When people join the count down to session starting starts again from 30. We'll have 8 people and it will literally count down to the last 2nd and one person will join meaning we have to start again. This has happened to me so often and it can take a few minutes for people to join. Also, I don't see why the race starts automatically when 16 join the lobby. Why need a countdown?

/frustrated rant

Penalties definitely need to be fixed. IMO it's better to join a customer server instead of going 'Quick Game' or whatever it's called. If you're lucky you'll find a decent group of races, and if someone is being a dog you've got a better chance of them being kicked. Quick game is effectively bumper cars, first corner is impossible and the corner of every straight ends with a crash (more so than custom).

The idea of penalties is great, but it isn't implemented well. Don't let that put off, the driving experience is awesome. Like OzBomber, racing the Nurburgring is great. I know in real F1 everyone hates that little chicane at the end of the lap, but it feels great flying through it in game.

Setup glitch makes levelling up online easy :p

Can pull 1:21-22s at Albert Park without effort.

But it needs to be fixed. Simple patch should fix it.

Anyone tried the Indian track yet? wow wee, what an awesome curcuit. High speed, technical in places. Can't wait until they go there and race for the 1st time.

The track is nuts, it reminds me of the old Kyalami South African track that used to be in some of the old F1 games, hilly, crazy and bloody hard to get the hang of.

Can't wait to see the real F1 cars take it on.:thumbsu:

Out of curiosity, do the interviews after races actually mean anything? or are they just there to seem more realistic
